Start of repetitive production

Serial production of Oriole 4.0 electric trains began. Kirill Lipa, General Director of Transmashholding (engaged in the production of such trains), spoke about this at the end of August 2023. According to him, the new model was created in cooperation with the Moscow government.

Thanks to the active position of the city, it was possible to create a train that was really convenient for the passenger. Moscow is following the path of creating a city that is comfortable for life, an integral part of which is modern transport, "said Lipa, quoted by TASS.

Oriole 4.0

Transmashholding introduced the Oriole 4.0 train in August 2023. It is a completely Russian development. The main difference between the fourth generation model is the increase in the number of doors to three except for the head cars. In addition, 97% of the components of the new electric train model are produced in Russia at more than 600 enterprises.

The train can accelerate to 160 km/h and carry up to 646 passengers. The head cars will have places for charging electric scooters and bike parking. The train is equipped with tables with wireless charging, as well as USB-A and USB-C connectors. By August 25, 2023, redevelopment work and the development of design documentation for the new model of rolling stock have already been completed. The bodies are welded and the first composition is assembled, which must be certified.

In May 2023, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that the new Orioles would run in MTsD-3 and MTsD-4 diameters. According to him, by 2025, the Moscow authorities plan to purchase 95 Oriole trains. The fourth generation model will be released on MTsD-4 in late 2023 - early 2024. It is planned to completely update the rolling stock in the next year and a half^[1] said^[2]

Electric train presentation

Transmashholding showed the Oriole 4.0 electric train, designed for the Moscow central diameters. This became known on August 24, 2023.

For this model, 98% of components are produced in Russia, at more than 600 enterprises. Including the control system and software installed in the cockpit.

If the first Orioles used engines from the Austrian company Traktionssysteme Austria, now they are replaced by Russian units. Thanks to them, the updated train reaches speeds of up to 160 km/h, instead of 120 km/h for the previous models.

The capacity of such a train will be up to 646 people, and from previous versions the new "electric train" also differs in a large number of doors in the cars - now there are three instead of two, which simplifies the entry and exit of passengers.

"Oriole" will be equipped with tables with wireless charging, Type-A and Type-C connectors, and in the head cars there will be places for charging electric scooters and bicycle parking^[3]
