2023: Product Announcement

On August 21, 2023, the American medical tech company Exactech announced the release of the Truliant (Truliant Knee System) knee replacement system based on advanced polyethylene Activit-E.

The Truliant platform includes a complete set of primary and revision implants that are designed for patients with different anatomical features. Patented pressed polyethylene mesh inserts minimize surface damage and wear.

Activit-E is said to provide an optimal balance of strength and stiffness through the use of chemically crosslinked polyethylene (similar technology is used in the manufacture of water pipes). At the same time, there is no need for the use of gamma radiation, which was used in the manufacture of implants from polyethylene of the previous generation. The developed material is resistant to oxidation and retains its characteristics for a long time.

Activit-E is the result of many years of research and development in the field of polyethylene. This material represents a breakthrough achievement for Exactech. Next-generation crosslinked polyethylene with antioxidant vitamin E is designed to achieve our primary goal of providing benefits to our patients, "noted Adam Hayden, Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President, Exactech.

The strength, flexibility and rigidity of Activit-E allow the material to be used in total knee arthroplasty. Exactech plans to launch the first implants made using the new technology on the American market in the beginning of the third quarter of 2023.
