2025: Start of Mass Production
In mid-May 2025, Elmix, a resident of the Sirius Scientific and Technological Center, announced the start of mass production of an innovative TurtleROV2 underwater vehicle capable of operating at depths of up to 400 meters without using external navigation.
The new development is a compact underwater drone weighing less than 35 kg, characterized by high maneuverability and the ability to adapt to difficult operating conditions. A key feature of the device is the built-in system of automatic tracking of objects and the ability to navigate underwater without using external navigation systems at significant depths.
TurtleROV2 is fully developed by domestic specialists, which ensures high maintainability of the device and independence from imported components. Russian engineers took into account the needs of the underwater research market and created a universal apparatus that can be used in various fields.
The scope of the new underwater drone includes a wide range of tasks: engineering surveying, ship inspections and underwater technical work. Due to its compact size and high maneuverability, the device is able to operate in conditions of limited space and complex terrain of the seabed.
The Sirius University of Science and Technology, on the basis of which the development company works, was created in 2019 on behalf of the president. Within the Russia Vladimir Putin framework of this scientific center, advanced projects are developing in the fields of genomics, immunobiology, neuroscience, gene therapy, plant genome editing, robotics, climate research and clinical psychology.
A feature of the organization of research work in Sirius is the active involvement of graduate and graduate students in scientific projects from the first days of study. This approach allows you to train specialists who have not only theoretical knowledge, but also practical skills in developing innovative products.[1]
