2025: Transfer of the Russian Navy
The Russian Navy was replenished with two small missile ships "Stavropol" of project 21631 and "Typhoon" of project 22800, which were officially adopted and distributed between the Baltic and Black Sea fleets, respectively. The ceremony of raising the Andreev flags on new combat units was held in Baltiysk and Makhachkala, which means the readiness of ships to perform combat missions. Information about the commissioning of missile ships appeared at the end of August 2025.
According to Telegram the channel, the Ministry of Defence Russia small rocket ship Stavropol became part of the Baltic Fleet after a ceremony in Baltiysk. The ship is the 12th vessel in the Buyan-M project 21631 series, which emphasizes the success of this design development for the needs of the Russian fleet.
The small rocket ship "Typhoon" of project 22800 was accepted into the Black Sea Fleet during a ceremony in Makhachkala. This project presents a more modern concept of small missile ships designed to perform a variety of combat missions in coastal waters.
The ships of project 21631 Buyan-M are classified as multi-purpose small rocket and artillery ships of the third rank of small displacement. The main purpose of these vessels is to protect and protect the economic zone in the internal sea basins using guided missile weapons of the near sea zone.
The distribution of the predecessors of Stavropol across the fleets demonstrates a strategic approach to the deployment of combat units: four ships serve in the Baltic, four in the Black Sea and three are part of the Caspian flotilla. This distribution ensures uniform strengthening of all directions of the maritime borders of Russia.
The strike armament of the project 21631 ships includes eight launchers for Caliber-type cruise missiles or Onyx anti-ship missiles. Additionally, the ships are equipped with a 100 mm A-190 artillery mount, which provides fire support at close distances.[1]
