2023: Use of a bomb in the RWT area
It became known that the Aerospace Forces of the Russian Federation began to use heavy aircraft bombs UPAB-1500B to destroy highly protected objects of the Ukrainian army during a military special operation (SVO) in Ukraine. This was announced in March 2023 by the Telegram channel of the publication "Voenkory of the Russian Spring."
Fighters of the Russian army told war correspondents that aviation bombs weighing 1.5 tons were used by order of the command to eliminate the fortified military structures of Ukrainian militants in the area of the village of Avdeevka.
An aircraft bomb is UPAB-1500B used to destroy ground and underground objects at a distance of up to 40 kilometers. The ammunition is equipped with an inertial and satellite navigation system, which functions in accordance with the "launch-forget" instruction.
The bomb also has an anti-jamming mechanism and is capable of penetrating concrete fortifications by exploding after touching, or according to a set explosion timer after entering underground shelters. Ammunition can be carried by Su-35 fighters, Su-25 attack aircraft, as well as Su-34 bombers.
The fact that Russia began to use the new most powerful planning bombs of the UPAB-1500B in the SVO zone was also written in its Telegram channel by the commander of the Troya special forces volunteer unit Vladimir Novikov with the call sign Alabai, the Лента.ру newspaper reports.
Today in Donetsk there is only talk: "What did we start to use so powerful that the entire capital of the DPR walks like a walker from the assault on Avdeevka?" I answer: the Ministry of Defense began to use new powerful planning bombs weighing 1,500 kilograms in the UPAB-1500B zone, the officer wrote. |
According to him, these bombs were involved in the attack on the fortified areas of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) near Avdeevka. As Novikov specified, the UPAB-1500B was first presented to the public only in 2019. It is equipped with an inertial and satellite navigation system.[1]
