2023: Service Launch

Nizhny Novgorod Lobachevsky University (NNSU) has created a digital platform called UnnCyberpsy, which allows research on sleepiness and sleep outside the laboratory. The press service of the university announced this at the end of September 2023.

Valeria Demareva, head of the cyberpsychology laboratory at the Faculty of Social Sciences of NNSU, whose words are quoted by the university's press service, noted that most often sleep studies require that a person was present in the laboratory, including at night. This creates many inconveniences for research participants and violates the purity of experiments, she noted.

We have created a virtual environment that allows you to explore sleep remotely, "Demareva continued.

She also stated that the digital platform has demonstrated its effectiveness in studying the dynamics of sleepiness. Participants in the experiment assessed their drowsiness and entered the data into the system. They did it at regular intervals. The results did not contradict those data that were collected by traditional methods.

According to Demareva, applications are usually created for one test and register a person's condition at a certain moment.

Our system allows you to observe state changes over time. An extensive algorithm makes the system flexible and allows you to add new parameters to the experiment, - said the head of the laboratory.

As noted, UnnCyberpsy scales. It can be used in studies with cyclic control of a person's condition. In the future, cyberpsychologists at the university plan to use the platform to conduct cognitive tests. It is noted that the web service was created with the support of the Russian Foundation for Scientific Research (RFNI).[1][2]
