The checked architecture of VMware (VMware Validated Design, VVD) are the complex comprehensively checked schemes of elements for creation and operation of a private cloud. These architecture cover all data processing center (computing and network resources, storage and management). They set the gold standard of deployment and setup of a full range of solutions of VMware for program DPC with support of a broad spectrum of scenarios of use.
2020: Creation of the complete software-defined solution for DPC on fight against security risks for IoT Edge
On October 28, 2020 the Infinidat company announced consolidation of efforts with VMware for the purpose of creation of the complete software-defined solution for DPC which fights against the existing and potential security risks for IoT Edge.
According to the company, for October, 2020 all industries undergo serious digital transformation, using technologies for optimization of service quality of customers and operational efficiency, increase in business flexibility. The solutions connected with Internet of Things play an important role in achievement of these purposes as they provide processes of digital transformation due to expansion of program control over physical assets for optimization of performance and increase in flexibility. In the recent report "Worldwide Global DataSphere IoT Device and Data Forecast, 2019–2023" from International Data Corporation (IDC) is predicted growth up to 41.6 billion attached devices IoT. However the large companies which usually have 10,000 - 25,000 network devices in the IT- the park, use devices, outdate and inclined to failures. For October, 2020 in the report of "Unit 42 IoT Threat Report" it is specified that nearly three quarters of professionals in the field of corporate security consider the current security measures insufficient for uncontrollable devices and IoT devices. And it does the organizations vulnerable for the threats connected with Internet of Things.
The connected peripheral devices and IoT networks represent a significant risk for safety of business as they increase vulnerability of corporate IT network. For this reason Infinidat and VMware propose a set of solutions on the basis of which corporate customers can create integral innovation infrastructure of security in the environment of software-defined data processing centers (SDDC). Ken Steinhardt, the area technical director of Infinidat told |
The platform is directed to the solution of three key tasks:
- protection against security risks of the going from Internet of Things and peripheral devices;
- improvement of management of network using the scalable server platform of monitoring of security intended for data analysis from the existing and subscriber equipment;
- ensuring compliance to standards and operational performance.
The number of cyber attacks to devices of Internet of Things increased by 300% in 2019, according to data from F-Secure. At the same time IT services and security services are under the additional pressure as should show compliance to standards. However for October, 2020 very few commands with big networks of devices can effectively and productively satisfy to these requests. Decrease in complexity and cost of infrastructure of storage can lead to optimization of opportunities of audit and the reporting that substantially promotes the satisfaction of regulatory requirements in short-term and long-term perspectives.
The VMware Validated Design (VVD) platform is supplemented with opportunities of data storage of Infinidat on the scale of several petabyte which allow to reach the necessary performance, cost efficiency and amount of data.
2016: Main opportunities of VMware Validated Design
(data are relevant for 2016)
The standardized architecture of level of DPC Architecture of VVD optimize and simplify development process and also provide integration and compatibility of all components in a data processing center.
Stability Each checked architecture is developed by specialists and passes test and check that provides deployment and operation. Continuous testing of compatibility provides relevance of architecture at release of the subsequent versions of components.
Support of different scenarios of use The architecture of VVD provides the adaptive platform which implements the opportunities provided to program DPCs, in particular: microsegmentation, automation of IT processes and their readiness for the integrated development and operation.
Exhaustive documentation Complete with VMware Validated Design such materials as data on reference architecture, the detailed guides to design, control lists are provided for preparation for deployment, working magazines of a configuration, working magazines of checks, the guides to implementation and operation (in particular instructions for monitoring and notifications, backup and recovery and also ensuring compliance to industry standards).
