VMware vCenter Protect Essentials Plus

VMware vCenter Protect Essentials Plus, before Shavlik NetChk Protect, is the full-fledged management system intended for satisfaction of requirements of SMB. VMware vCenter Protect Essentials Plus offers a lung in installation and cost-efficient control of physical and virtual machines, a software update in 28 languages, function of detection of resources, setup and power management, an antivirus and security of the working device. New characteristics of VMware vCenter Protect Essentials Plus include:

• New opportunities of accomplishment of scenarios which will provide increase in efficiency, allowing customers to manage process of accomplishment of scenarios by group of computers or the whole network. The directory of IT scenarios will constantly extend in process of increase in their quantity. Tens of scenarios will be available to automation of such tasks as a configuration, maintenance, support and obtaining information on network condition.
• The accessibility to a remote desktop which will allow users to start the RDP protocol (Remote Desktop Protocol) in the module Machine View which is built in vCenter Protect Essentials Plus, providing to IT administrators remote access to the device necessary to them.
• The vCenter Protect Essentials Plus console will allow several administrators to carry out different tasks at the same time.
• The new Power Status indicator allows to determine information on energy consumption of machines by network and to create reports which clients can submit to the electricity providers offering discounts in case of economy of energy.

In the spring of 2013 in VMware company decided that it is better for partners to be engaged in management systems for installation of corrections of the software as an independent product. The Protect system passed under control of LANDesk company. Financial conditions of this transaction do not reveal.

VMware leads the strategy of orientation to the directions with a high potential: the program configured data processing centers, hybrid clouds and systems for end users and already not for the first time sells the assets which are not fitting into this strategy. In March it sold the SlideRocket company purchased last year which developed the cloud applicaion for editing and demonstration of the presentations. ClearSlide became its new owner.

LANDesk is engaged in technologies of management of virtualization and installations of corrections without participation of the agent, and the Protect system quite corresponds to scope of its work. The company is going to save the Shavlik trademarks and to sell its developments through the available sales channels. LANDesk expresses also the intention to develop Shavlik technologies further.
