On July 24, 2017 the VMware company released the next update of the main client for management of virtual infrastructure - VMware vSphere Client 3.17.

VMware vSphere HTML5 Web Client v.2.5, 2.6, 2.7 и 2.8

In the first decade of October, 2016 the VMware company published the next update of the thin client for management of virtual infrastructure - vSphere HTML5 Web Client of version 2.8.

VMware vSphere HTML5 Web Client completely will replace the laid-off vSphere C# Client in the following release of the server platform of virtualization of vSphere (it will happen in 2016).

On September 13, 2016 the VMware company updated the client for management of virtual infrastructure - HTML5 Web Client. It will replace the laid-off vSphere C# Client in the following release of the server platform of virtualization of vSphere, in 2017.

Upgrade of the web client of versions 2.3 and 2.4^[1]:

• full creation of pools of resources (Resource pools).
• viewing recommendations of DRS and errors of migration.
• users can rename folders.
• possibility of customization of guest OS during cloning of the virtual machine with several virtual network interfaces (vNIC).

VMware vSphere HTML5 Web Client 2.0

On August 16, 2016 the VMware company announced a release of version 2.0 of HTML5 Web Client.

In this version the interface - Fling Appliance Management Interface is upgraded, it allows to manage the virtual module implementing the main services of the client^[2]. Its opportunities:

• update vSphere Web Client in one click.
• installation and the Web Client configuration through Appliance Management Interface.
• inclusion/shutdown of the web interface of the client from the managing interface.

VMware vSphere HTML5 Web Client 1.17

On August 2, 2016 the VMware company released version 1.17 of the client of vSphere HTML5 Web Client.

Features^[3] are added]:

• information on the CDP and LLDP protocols for physical network adapters.
• the Hardware acceleration list for virtual storages ([Datastore]-> Configure-> Hardware acceleration) containing settings of the equipment supporting innovations from VMware.

On July 29, 2016 the VMware company released releases 1.14, 1.15 and 1.16 of software of vSphere HTML5 Web Client^[4].

VMware HTML5 Web Client 1.10 и 1.11

On June 29, 2016 it became known of release of clients of HTML5 Web Client of versions 1.10 and 1.11 of VMware company^[5].

Possibilities of web clients of versions 1.10 and 1.11:

VMware vSphere HTML5 Web Client 1.8 и 1.9

On June 9, 2016 VMware announced^[6] completions and release of versions of clients of VMware vSphere HTML5 Web Client 1.8 and 1.9].

The upgraded possibilities of VMware vSphere HTML5 Web Client 1.8 and 1.9:

• Viewing and editing settings of a cluster of VMware of DRS and DPM is possible.
• It is possible to browse the heartbeat datastores setup and the VMware HA admission control mechanism.
• At the level of a cluster it is possible to browse and edit compatibility of VM by default.
• The master of adding of a host purchased the section of settings of the lockdown mode mode.
• When adding a host in a cluster it is possible to create a new pool of resources with virtual machines of this host now.
• Warnings are displayed in the lower panel now.
• Possibility of assembling of the VMware Tools installer in VM.
• During creation of the virtual machine it is possible to select the different recommendations of a cluster of storages (datastore cluster recommendations) from a cluster of DRS.
• At cloning of VM it is possible to disconnect Storage DRS (SDRS).
• The master of adding of a separate host of ESXi allows to select placement of virtual machines now.

Improvements are carried out, error corrections are made.

VMware vSphere HTML5 Web Client 1.1

On April 11, 2016 VMware updated the version of vSphere HTML5 Web Client up to 1.1^[7].

Possibilities of release of vSphere HTML5 Web Client 1.1:

• adding new CD/the DVD drive to the new or existing virtual machine.
• adding of the network adapter to the new or existing VM.
• adding of the hard drive to the new or existing VM.
• creation of the virtual machine from representation of a cluster.
• transfer of VM in a cluster at the expense of vMotion and establishment of a priority of migration.
• change of the Agent VM settings for a host server.
• viewing the Lockdown Mode settings in the section of Security Profile on a host.
• viewing information on certificates on ESXi.
• basic environment for creation of a new cluster.
• removal of a cluster.

Improvements:

• Transaction connect/disconnect of the network adapter.
• Setup of the network adapter during creation of the new virtual machine.
• The set of errors is corrected.

The product did not leave in the status RTM yet. It is supposed that it is necessary to expect half a year.

Technology preview

On March 29, 2016 the VMware company issued the technology preview of the client for the VMware vSphere VMware vSphere HTML5 Web Client system administrators^[8].

For March 29, 2016 the client of vSphere HTML5 Web Client is supported only for VMware vSphere 6 and later versions. It is intended for management of virtual infrastructure only through VMware vCenter services.

Functionality of the preview

• Transactions with a power supply of virtual machines (on/off / suspension).
• Change of the VM settings (CPU, memory, virtual disks).
• Access to the console of virtual machines.
• Pages of information for hosts and VM.
• Hot migration of machines between ESXi hosts (without relocation of storages).
• Cloning of machines and creation of templates from VM.
• Creation of the new virtual machine (so far opportunities are limited).
• Different diagrams of performance for monitoring and tracking of events (Performance charts, Tasks, Events).
• Global Views representations (last tasks, alarms, etc.).

In the client there are no vSphere Update Manager functions.

Loading of VMware vSphere HTML5 Web Client is available in the form of the ready virtual module OVA.
