2026: Platform Building
At the end of January 2026, it became known that France it was abandoning the use of American systems video conferencings Zoom Microsoft Teams in government departments. Instead, a national Visio platform with similar functionality will be implemented.
David Amiel, Authorized Minister for Civil Service and State Reforms, spoke about the initiative. The French administration has become "overly dependent" on foreign video conferencing platforms, he said. The abandonment of Zoom and Teams is part of a broader effort by local government to strengthen digital sovereignty and reduce the use of overseas technology.
| To ensure the security of negotiations and internal communications, it is extremely important to put an end to this dependence at the state level, "says Amiel, quoted by Firstpost. |
The Visio platform was created by the Interdepartmental Office for Digital Technologies (DINUM). The decision is said to represent "100 per cent French development." Amiel emphasizes that the move to Visio will not only increase security, but also save millions of euros that are spent on renewing licensing agreements with foreign software manufacturers .
The Visio platform, as noted, includes various features that improve the convenience of video conferencing and information analysis. For example, there is a built-in algorithm that can automatically generate text transcripts of conversations. As of the end of January 2026, about 40 thousand users tested the system. The solution is planned to be implemented throughout the public administration infrastructure in 2027.[1]
