2025: Launching

On October 29, 2025, a luxury cruise ship Vladimir Zhirinovsky arrived in St. Petersburg, on the territory of the Baltic Plant, to carry out the final construction work. The vessel, which is in a high degree of readiness (about 90%), was transported from the Astrakhan region, where it was created for almost a decade.

According to Kommersant, the construction of this liner began on August 15, 2016 at the Lotus shipyard. Initially, in December 2017, it was planned to give it the name "Peter the Great," but in December 2023 it was decided to rename the vessel in honor of the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party. The start of the operation of the ship is scheduled for 2026 and is timed to coincide with the anniversary - the 80th anniversary of Vladimir Zhirinovsky.

Cruise ship "Vladimir Zhirinovsky"

This premium cruise ship is designed to comfortably accommodate about 300 travelers. Its decks will house bars, restaurants, a swimming pool, a relaxation area in the form of a spa, as well as a gym. According to Kommersant, the total cost of the project increased from an initial amount of 2.5 billion to 4.2 billion rubles.

The ship "Vladimir Zhirinovsky" is intended for transportation along rivers and access to the Caspian Sea with visits to ports located in coastal countries. In addition, in the future, the possibility of its operation in the basins of the Black, Azov, Mediterranean and Red Seas is being considered.

The ship is created on the initiative of the Moscow River Shipping Company, and its management will be transferred to the Mosturflot company. According to Kommersant, this event is important for the region, since over the past six decades, the construction of high-class vessels has not been carried out in Russia, and in the country's recent history this is the first such precedent.[1][2]
