Announcement of unmanned ambulance

In October 2021, Volkswagen introduced an unmanned ambulance based on the ID Buzz model. The novelty is equipped with everything necessary for transporting medical workers and assisting patients.

The developers of the unmanned ambulance note that artificial intelligence (AI) is able to capture each photon at a distance of up to 400 meters, and autopilot predicts different scenarios for the behavior of all road users, even cyclists and pedestrians.

In the model itself, the front seats are directed back to specialized medical equipment. The German automaker emphasizes that these cars are equipped with interiors made mainly of recycled materials, such as industrial waste, fishing nets and others. These materials are used to make carpets and floor mats, as well as door glasses and dashboard elements.

The chair in the front of the single volume is turned towards medical equipment and the second seat - probably intended for the patient. Outside, such an ID.Buzz, like a regular ambulance, is distinguished by a corresponding livery and a flashing beacon on the roof.

According to the designers, the interiors will be made mainly of recycled materials, including industrial waste and spent fishing nets. Secondary raw materials are used in the decoration of door cards, the front panel, as well as in floor mats. The seats will be upholstered with a pleasant synthetic material, among the advantages of which is the ease of cleaning.

As designers, we are the people who come up with these new living conditions. Truly penetrate a person's head in the future and offer him various things, analyze his needs and various use cases, and then based on the basic requirements to create a car. This is what the design of the future should do, "explained Albert Kirzinger, head of design at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles[1]
