2020: The beginning of production at the Xerox plant
At the beginning of April, 2020 Xerox and Vortran Medical Technology announced cooperation within which the companies are going to arrange production of devices for the emergency support of breath of Vortran GO2Vent and the corresponding monitor of pressure in APM-Plus airways.
Both companies are going to increase quickly production from about 40,000 devices in April to 150,000 - 200,000 devices a month by June that in the coming months to take to hospitals up to 1 million devices of the emergency support of breath.
The GO2Vent system is not direct replacement of the ventilators used in intensive care units, but can be applied in emergencies, when transporting patients and during MRT. The device APM-Plus is the portable device which is connected to GO2Vent and controls a status of the patient and key parameters of breath, allowing to control operation of the main device.
Use of alternatives to traditional devices of intensive therapy should fill the shortage caused by COVID-19 pandemic. Both companies intend to collect and analyze data and responses of specialists of health care to develop and in large quantities to make new modifications of devices. Xerox is going to make devices at the plant in the State of New York while Vortran will continue production at the enterprise in Sacramento, the State of California. Both companies intend to distribute products on places.
