2012: 3.5-inch drive WD Black with a capacity of 4 TB

In 2012 it became known that division of company Western Digital, WD, the producer of hard drives, provided the 3.5-inch drive WD Black with rotational speed 7200 RPM.

As it was explained, WD Black line models with a speed of turnovers of a spindle 7200 are RPM equipped with 64 MB a cache, the double-drive system of positioning of heads, the SATA interface of 6 GB / with and two built-in processors.

Among opportunities of drives of a line of WD Black with a capacity of 4 TB it is possible to note:

• Two processors — the doubled computing power for achievement of proper performance level.
• The double-drive system of positioning of heads — the mechanism of positioning of heads of the hard drive with two drives allows to optimize the location accuracy of the block of heads over disk tracks. The main standard electromagnetic drive performs block move with a normal accuracy. The additional piezoelectric mechanism executes precision combination of heads with a magnetic track on a drive plate.
• IntelliSeek is technology of determination of the data retrieval transaction accomplishment speed, optimal for the drive, which helps to reduce the level of energy consumption, noise and vibration.
