2018: Beginning of sales of WLinux Enterprise

In December, 2018 the WLinux Enterprise distribution kit which represents the version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux optimized under Windows 10 went on sale.

WLinux Enterprise is available to Microsoft Store and is offered at the discount price of $5. After the end of an action cost will be $100.

The WLinux Enterprise distribution kit is optimized especially for a subsystem  of WSL  (Windows Subsystem for Linux) and expected use only in Windows environment. In the operating system the package base Debian and  the WSL-DistroLauncher installer prepared by Microsoft for start in WSL of any Linux distribution kits are used. Project practices freely  are distributed  under the license MIT, but ready assemblies  are available on a paid basis.[1]

WLinux Enterprise interface

WSL allows to start the different GNU/Linux distribution kits in Windows 10 in the form of applications, offering access to Ubuntu, openSUSE, Debian, Kali Linux, etc.

WLinux Enterprise increases productivity of work of developers and IT personnel, providing them access to the command line of Linux and development tools which are necessary for them in modern cloud, hybrid and cross-platform environments, including Git, OpenSSH, Node.js, Python, Go, Ruby, tools of the command line of AWS and Azure, etc., directly in Windows 10 together with existing applications of Windows, said in the statement of the Whitewater Foundry organization developing the WLinux project.

WLinux is constructed based on stable release of Debian, already from a box supports the majority of graphic applications for Linux (the X-servers installation for Windows is required), contains all popular building tools, is delivered complete with a set of open utilities wslu serving for closer integration of WSL and Windows 10 and also with the additional scripts simplifying installation Google Chrome Visual Studio Code, pip3 and fzf.
