2017: Announcement

In the middle of November, 2017 the Futurism edition told about the compact wireless WT2 earphones capable to automatically translate the speech from one language on another. This gadget created by Timekettle company eliminates a language barrier between people from the different countries.

Two earphones are provided in a set of WT2: the user inserts one of them into the ear, another — tells to the interlocutor. Devices, being connected to the smartphone and a special application, independently define language which the person speaks, and translate a conversation in real time.

It is noted that WT2 has a basic set of lexicon,  normal language, suitable for a conversation, on  daily subjects. So a talk on  difficult subjects, like art or philosophical theories probably the message will not manage.

By November, 2017 the solution supports six languages: English, Chinese, French, German, Japanese and  Spanish. Transfer is possible in  any combinations.  Developers promise to add support of bigger quantity of languages, but do not call terms and tell nothing about Russian.

According to authors of the project, the wearable translator effectively suppresses noise and has very low delay when processing a voice (declare no more than 3 seconds). Battery life reaches 6 hours.

Earphones are delivered in the protective plastic body in which they also are charged. When opening this box earphones automatically join and try to be connected to the smartphone with which connection was already adjusted earlier.

Money for serial production of Bluetooth translator WT2  was raised on the crowdfunding Kickstarter platform. By November 17, 2017 users of the platform provided to the project about $277 thousand. Mailing of devices by that who supported the project on Kickstarter will begin in December, 2017. They purchased the gadget for $100, and for the others cost will be $150.[1]
