On February 4, 2021 Astra Linux Group reported that together with Waves Enterprise, the developer of the blockchain platform of the same name, completion of testing of its compatibility with OS of general purpose Astra Linux Common Edition release Oryol.
Experts of Waves Enterprise tested compatibility with the domestic operating system. For tests used software of Waves Enterprise of version 1.4.0 in the form of docker-images which set in the environment of Astra Linux Common Edition OS release Oryol of the version 12/2/22, generic loaded with cores and hardened. Specialists checked correctness of start, functioning, a stop and removal of Waves Enterprise from OS and were convinced that products are completely compatible and they can be used without any limit. Based on the carried-out works the solution Waves Enterprise 1.4.0 received official certificate No. 3796/2020 within the program of technology partnership of Ready for Astra Linux.
Confirmation of compatibility of the Waves Enterprise platform with Astra Linux Common Edition opens additional opportunities for our clients and seriously expands scope of our operating system. Microsoft and Waves Enterprise agreed about development of a corporate blockchain in Russia
On July 16, 2020 it became known that Microsoft in Russia and technology company Waves Enterprise agreed about strategic cooperation in the field of development and digital transformation in a corporate segment using a solutions blockchain and cloud computing. The relevant agreement was signed by Christina Tikhonova, the president of Microsoft in Russia, and Alexander Ivanov, the CEO of Veb3 company of Technology (the developer of the Waves Enterprise platform).
As it was reported, the agreement assumes large-scale use of Waves Enterprise of cloud computing of Microsoft Azure within implementation of the joint initiatives directed to implementation a solutions blockchain in a corporate segment. Among scenarios and business processes where the solution – optimization of a supply chain can be used, a notariate of data, tokenization of assets of the enterprises and other processes. Waves Enterprise in a cloud of Azure gives an opportunity to business quickly to create the corporate application or service working in the entrusted infrastructure, in the conditions of transparency of the distributed processes, permanent availability and integrity of data.
The main directions of cooperation will become:
- Placement of Waves Enterprise in Microsoft Azure Marketplace. It will make the solution Waves Enterprise available to a broad spectrum of the companies in Russia and worldwide within a global cloud ecosystem of Microsoft. At the same time deployment from a cloud will allow to accelerate significantly implementation process, without requiring additional costs on own infrastructure and setup.
- Placement of Waves Enterprise in Microsoft Azure Stack Hub. It will allow business to implement hybrid cloud scenarios and to unroll a node corporate Waves Enterprise blockchain network in own infrastructure in the environment of Azure Stack. The integrated Microsoft Azure Stack system is expansion of infrastructure of a cloud platform Microsoft Azure which allows to use capacities of local DPCs and global infrastructure of Azure within the hybrid approach.
- Creation of service for analytics of transactions based on Microsoft Azure. The companies are going to develop a joint cloud service on the basis of the analytical Azure tools which will be integrated about Waves Enterprise blockchain infrastructure. It will allow to obtain structured data, including, analytical reports and diagrams with data on business processes from a blockchain network and blockchains-applications regardless of where there are nodes of network – in a cloud or are unrolled locally. Service will allow to make automatic audit of smart contracts and the analysis of transactions of network regarding existence of anomalies or attempts of a kompromentation of network, to visualize a flow of tokens and also will give ability to integrate with third-party solutions for enrichment of work of smart contracts in a system, for example, for insurance or risk analysis.
Also under the terms of the memorandum of the company will develop jointly ready scenarios of use by business of blockchain technology for optimization of corporate processes.
The document is signed for five years. The companies believe that the agreement will promote joint projects in a corporate segment and also will influence development of the direction of a corporate blockchain in Russia in general.
Start of the beta of service of electronic vote on a blockchain
Waves Enterprise will provide free access to service for electronic corporate and state vote for the period of the beta test. It became known on June 30, 2020.
Service of Waves Enterprise decentralized a blockchain vote provides the entrusted environment for all participants of process of vote. The technology guarantees that the given vote cannot be changed by malefactors, is cancelled or lost. Confidentiality and not publicity are provided with enciphering by cryptographic algorithms. Actions of authenticated participants are checked through smart contracts, and results are counted automatically and kept is decentralized. Each participant can check whether his voice was considered and to receive the final protocol.
The architecture of a blockchain of Waves Enterprise based on algorithms of consensus of PoS and PoA allows to process up to 1 thousand requests per second. Thanks to the speed of network and failsafe architecture of the platform carrying out large-scale votes is possible. There are two options of delivery: public service based on the main network Waves Enterprise and on-premise on private network of the customer.
It is in the future going to expand scopes of the solution. We want to make the interface the most convenient, to bring closer it to business processes of the specific companies which will be among users of the solution. Results of the traditional centralized vote methods, including the electronic systems of vote, are often called into question as fixing and counting of votes are opaque. The internal format of vote replaces remote more and more, including thanks to the transformation strengthened by COVID-19 pandemic. The remote centralized vote is subject to the hacker attacks and manipulations with results. Protection against falsifications and fault tolerance a clustering of data on two and more copies, logging of all actions in a system also administrative measures of increase in security cannot guarantee even geographical distribution on the data processing centers (DPC).
Service for vote on the basis of blockchain technology can have a serious impact on functioning of institutes of management around the world. Use of modern technologies of cryptography and the decentralized architecture allow to conduct the transparent surveys protected from falsifications, votes and referenda[1].
Passing of check of security from Kaspersky Lab
Kaspersky Lab checked the corporate Waves Enterprise blockchain platform for existence of vulnerabilities. All detected gaps were corrected then the platform underwent repeated testing, reported on March 31, 2020 in Waves Enterprise company.
Specialists of Kaspersky Lab tested solution components, including nodes of network and also the user and program interfaces of the platform by method of black and gray boxes. Testing by method of a gray box means check of security of the platform in working conditions with it the legitimate user, and the method of a black box checks its resistance to the external attacks.
Audit revealed several vulnerabilities: in a program environment of the platform, in the operating systems used as a part of containers system components and third-party libraries. The found gaps were closed.
Waves Enterprise can be used for storage and transfer of digital financial assets and confidential information, and we should be sure that all our solutions are safe for users. For this purpose we implemented an internal system of verification of the software and in addition to it constantly we use services of the third-party companies for carrying out substantive audits of cyber security and penetration tests. Waves Enterprise 1.0
On November 14, 2019 the Waves company announced release of updating of network. Version 1.0 includes several updates of the Waves Enterprise platform which are specially prepared for corporations and state agencies.
According to the developer, the platform was started for solving of tasks on implementation of corporate blockchains and provides high-performance networks of private and hybrid blockchains, several modules of enciphering and the containerized smart contracts which can be written in any popular programming language.
The token of VST which is a system token of the platform was renamed into WEST: Waves Enterprise System Token. Total number of tokens of WEST in the address was reduced from 1 billion to 400 million without entering of additional changes into the protocol.
As noted in Waves, the provided release includes several key functions and components for corporate users. For achievement of the high level of security services of authorization according to the oAuth 2.0 specification are added to a system. They include:
- earlier API Waves Enterprise was open, and any could use it. In the provided version authorization is necessary for use of API. This measure will allow to raise the security level;
- support of multi-accounts (for example, several a blockchain addresses) under one password is added. The purpose of this function — to make the platform of user-friendlier;
- administrators of notes can manage from the client application keys in key storage of the notes;
- for all services the uniform account Waves Enterprise can be used. This function will become available after release of functionality of a personal account where it will be the most useful.
All this functionality is integrated with other Waves Enterprise services, emphasized in Waves.
In upgraded version, according to the statement of the developer, execution of hundreds of contracts a minute is possible. And it — not just scripts, and difficult sets of instructions. For example based on the platform the application on face recognition using library of neuronets can be implemented.
In Waves Enterprise 1.0 the mechanics of processing of calls of the containerized smart contracts by notes in the Waves-NG protocol is changed. This release allows to update easily contracts, avoiding problems with maintenance of security of the steyt, claim in Waves.
Versions will be automatically updated that, according to the developer, excludes a possibility of fraud.
If load of network exceeds most provided, the blockchain saves stability. Waves removed restrictions for the blocks which got in inheritance from parent network (Waves Platform). Carried out tests at the maximum load and were convinced of stable network functioning within several weeks on geographically distributed cluster in a radius of 13,000 km. According to the developer, notes steadily work with the following characteristics: 2 cores, 8 GB of OZU. The network creates the block of 2 MB in size each 12 seconds at number of transactions in the block up to 10,000 and the microblock each 500 milliseconds. The maximum practical capacity Waves Enterprise blockchain network — 8 Mbps or 1 Mbps. In this test the blockchain was used as the data bus, it is the most frequent scenario at integration into a real industrial circuit. Theoretically, capacity can be increased up to 2 Mbps.
The interface for work with API is added to Waves Enterprise 1.0 and SWAGGER, with documentation is updated: all templates are filled; integration speed is increased, process is simplified. For integration simplification all methods are supplied with examples, the developer emphasized.
In the following release, according to the statement of the developer, functions in the client interface will be implemented: all private transactions will be visible in the interface; in the client there will be a section showing the status of an ankoring, error and filters; information on an ankoring will be available to users in a personal account.[2]
