In August 2025, the Russian company Wheelies announced an unmanned aerial vehicle for delivering items inside buildings and in the open air, capable of performing the functions of an autonomous waiter in restaurants and hotels. device is designed for automation of customer service in public places, at mass events and in service areas. This became known on August 26, 2025.

The technology is especially in demand in hospitality and catering, where the drone is able to independently deliver drinks and various items to visitors. The drone autonomously plans the trajectory of movement, avoids collisions with people and obstacles, maintains a stable flight and ensures the safety of transported objects.

The basis for the creation of the new device was the Darwin FPV drone, equipped with 3.5-inch propellers. Wheelies has supplemented the basic design with an on-board computing module and specialized software for navigation in closed spaces.

Drone control is carried out through the user interface, where delivery areas are pre-marked - tables, bar racks and other target points. The operator selects the desired destination, after which the drone receives a task, draws up the optimal route and begins the mission.

During the flight, the device analyzes the video stream from the built-in camera, recognizes people and static obstacles, goes around them and, if necessary, adjusts the original movement plan in real time. This adaptability is ensured by the use of machine learning algorithms and the ability to customize for specific operating conditions.^[1]
