2022: Production of heated stretchers

In mid-June 2022, Wideblue and Science to Business, which includes air ambulance in the UK, introduced a heated stretcher to transport patients. The product has a heating element powered by a rechargeable battery that warms the torso and shoulder area.

There are serious unresolved problems in the current practice of transporting patients from the scene of an accident throughout their journey before and after hospitalization. Another problem with standard manual handling devices such as backboards and stretchers used in emergency situations is that they are often cold and hard surfaces, resulting in an additional risk of loss of body heat to the patient.

The device from Wideblue and Science to Business is designed to facilitate patient transfer, provide heat (if necessary), and stays with the patient during all prehospital and in-hospital movements. An additional feature of the device for movement is that it has a soft surface, it reduces the risk of developing pressure sores when the patient is on the device for a long time.

Wideblue has cooperated with us over the past four years on all aspects of product development, including funding applications, prototyping for usability research, design for manufacturing, production scaling and patent filing. We have already patented a device that has several innovative features and will soon begin the latest round of clinical assessment of users, "said SciencetoBusiness Managing Director Mary Anne Cordeiro.
