2024: Transfer of brand rights to Kristall plant

In February 2024, the Kaluga distillery (KLVZ) "Crystal" became the owner of the Russian brand William Scott, which previously belonged to the distributor of alcoholic beverages "Status Group." This is evidenced by the data of Rospatent.

Crystal confirmed the receipt of the rights to the William Scott trademark and said that the relaunch of the brand should take place during 2024.

It was spilled on the territory of Russia in 2013-2015 and, as our research has shown, was one of the most popular brands of its category... We will produce the drink from Scottish distillate, which will allow us to get real high-quality tape at the output, "said Pavel Pobedkin, founder of the plant, in a conversation with RIA Novosti.

Russian whiskey brand William Scott went to the Kristall plant

According to experts interviewed by Kommersant, the William Scott brand has not been on the market for a long time and, taking into account the local whiskey brands that have appeared in recent years, it is unlikely to be recognizable, and it may not be easy to compete.

According to the secretary of the Alcopro guild Andrei Moskovsky, all major alcohol producers have whiskey brands with stable sales and reserved volumes of alcohol supplies from Scotland, so it can already be difficult to get on the shelf and compete.

At the same time, Pavel Pobedkin expressed confidence that William Scott tape will not only take a place among competitors, but will also be able to oust some of them, since, according to the founder of Crystal, it will be more attractive in price and will not yield in quality.

In the Alcoholic Siberian Group (ASG; Sea Witch whiskey) estimated the share of domestic brands in the Russian whiskey market at 60% and predicted the growth of the drinks segment at 700-800 rubles per bottle will continue to grow at the expense of local players.[1]
