Windows Embedded Compact 7 is the component real-time operating system intended for different compact devices of the consumer and corporate level. The version of Compact continues the line of the built-in systems which began with the first release of CE and provides to OEM partner new opportunities for creation of the advanced devices of the next generation. Using Windows Embedded Compact 7 developers can create the built-in devices with the attractive, intuitive user interface and convenient connectivities to personal computers, servers and interactive services. On the Compact 7 platform it is possible to create the most different devices, from difficult consumer electronics to the most important systems of industrial automatic equipment and medical equipment.

Using the updated technology of the declarative description of user interfaces on the basis of the Silverlight platform for Windows Embedded developers and designers can work on iterative creation of interfaces jointly. The new Internet Explorer Embedded browser supports Flash 10.1, has the configured interface and allows to manage tabs using sketches. Support of the DLNA, HD and MTP standards and also libraries of multimedia lays the foundation for creation of new entertaining means. Windows Embedded Compact 7 gives to developers the opportunities necessary for connection of devices to the PC, servers and interactive services. In the version of Compact 7 support of the network interfaces NDIS 6.1, Wi-fi, Bluetooth, 3G, Kerberos v5 and USB is updated that accelerates creation of the devices and applications which are constantly connected to network.

In the version of Compact 7 support of a symmetric multiprocessor architecture for ensuring performance of crucial applications and availability of devices is implemented. Developers should not refuse the Visual Studio 2008, Platform Builder and other well familiar means. Working in the usual environment, they will be able to apply the saved-up skills and also to interact with global partner community Windows Embedded. 2014: Windows Embedded Compact 2013

Windows Embedded Compact 2013 is the next version of the Compact 7 operating system (before CE 6.0). It helps with creation of more powerful devices with rich functionality on architectural concepts of x86 and ARM. OS is focused on the manufacturing enterprises of industrial controllers and devices of consumer electronics.

2014: Updating of Windows Embedded Compact 2013

On April 3, 2014 the Microsoft company announced updating for Windows Embedded Compact 2013.


The developer company sees an event in support of the freshest version of Visual Studio system 2013.

Updating is available to loading on the Windows Embedded portal in the section of Windows Embedded Compact 2013.

Windows Embedded Compact 2013 (Update 5)

On August 21, 2014 the Microsoft company released update of development tools for Windows Embedded Compact 2013.

Updating of Update 5 belongs, both to the Visual Studio 2013, and to the Visual Studio 2012 using which it is possible to make assembly of an image on the Windows Embedded Compact 2013 operating system.
