In July, 2017 it became known of start of the corporate tool by Microsoft company for measurement of time spent by employees for accomplishment of these or those tasks. The Workplace Analytics service is available to business subscribers of Office 365 to purchase as addition.

Workplace Analytics analyzes metadata in anonymous form about millions of e-mails and meetings in the companies clients to create the objective and quantitatively measured set of behavioural key performance indicators in the organization (for example, what is the time managers spend for personal meetings with subordinates as quickly they respond to e-mails of employees, their network of acquaintances is how various).

Metadata arrive from other Microsoft Office applications 365: Outlook or Word mail. Workplace Analytics uses VoloMetrix practices — a startup from Seattle purchased by Microsoft in 2015.

Workplace Analytics is Fitbit for increase in productivity. Workplace Analytics traces performance of office workers, in view of time which they spend in e-mail how many hours spend for meetings and as work hard overtime.

Several large customers of Microsoft, including Johnson & Johnson, PayPal, Freddie Mac and CBRE, tested service. So, based on implementation the CBRE company offering services in the market of a commercial real estate could reduce time which is necessary for 1200 employees for arrival on meetings that allowed to save about 100 hours a week.

According to the research conducted by analysts of Forrester Research by request of Microsoft, many heads of the companies consider a priority task for 2018 performance improvement of work of employees. Microsoft notes that Workplace Analytics helps to understand not only how to increase productivity of work, but also to make employees happier. In particular, service allows to count how many hours this or that department works out of working time and to define changes which it is necessary to enter work not to overload personnel.[1]
