2024: OS Release

At the end of February 2024, the Wubuntu software platform debuted - an operating system with a Linux kernel, the interface of which completely copies Windows 11. This ensures compatibility with many Windows applications, including Copilot, Edge, OneDrive, Teams and PowerShell.

The new OS is based on the Ubuntu distribution. It was modified to mimic the Windows 11 environment as accurately as possible: the Microsoft platform borrowed a color palette, wallpaper, all kinds of interface elements and even hotkeys. At the same time, Wubuntu is undemanding to the hardware resources of the computer, thanks to which it can function on relatively old desktops and laptops. The minimum requirements for running the OS are a processor with two processing cores and 2 GB of RAM. The platform can be installed on a traditional hard drive, but the developer recommends using a solid state drive to improve performance. The available space should be approximately 25 GB.

The Wubuntu developers used the Plasma graphics environment. It is said about the possibility of launching some applications and utilities for Android. The size of the distribution is approximately 5 GB. There is also a Windows 10-style modification of Wubuntu with Cinnamon graphics environment: to use this version, it is enough to have a single-core processor and only 1 GB of RAM in the computer.

Among other things, support for Microsoft and Google accounts, advanced security tools are mentioned. The Wubuntu operating system exists in free and paid editions. The second costs $35, offering a number of additional features, including automatic application updates and technical support.[1]
