2024: Product Announcement
In late October 2024, Chinese car giant Wuling unveiled two mobile charging stations for electric vehicles. One of them is a powerbank the size of an ice cream cart, the other is much larger, but is able to move and work completely autonomously. Such four-wheeled power banks will expand the networks of charging stations in the event of sharp demand and provide support for stranded drivers.
Wuling calls this new type of powerbank a "mobile energy charging and storage facility" (MESCV). These devices were developed in response to the growing needs of the Chinese market, as the country effectively transfers its entire road fleet to electric vehicles, overtaking almost all countries except Scandinavian ones in these indicators.
For the first time, the autonomous charging station for electric vehicles Wuling EV was presented at the Canton Fair in Guangzhou, also known as the China Import and Export Fair of 2024. Tests in China have shown that the mobile battery can reach speeds of up to 5 km/h and has a power of 141 kVt·ch. Its cost is $42,000. The smaller mobile battery comes with a 30- kVt·ch battery, a 20kW output charger and will sell for $11,000.
These mobile batteries are expected to become commonplace in car dealerships and service centers, as well as appearing at various remote locations without access to recharging devices, where drivers require a portable power supply. At the same time, MESCVs can be charged at the minimum load of stations with the lowest tariffs, and then used to recharge the dead batteries of electric vehicles anywhere.[1]
