2019: Broadcast of images from others houses because of an error in software
At the beginning of January, 2020 it became known that home cameras of Xiaomi began to broadcast images from others houses because of an error in software. The Chinese producer apologized to users and promised to correct an error as soon as possible.
The defect was detected by the user of Reddit under nickname/r/Dio-V who told about the experience of use of the camera Xiaomi Mi Home Security. Because of an error in the software in attempt of broadcast of the image from the smart camera Xiaomi Mijia on Google Home Hub user/r/Dio-V received images from the cameras mounted in others house. At the same time black-and-white images, sometimes indistinct and with noises, presumably from other time zone were displayed. As confirmation of problem/r/Dio-V posted the short video reflected from the camera to Google Home Hub. This opening induced Google to turn off temporarily integration of all intelligent devices of Xiaomi with Nest Hub and Google Assistant.
Xiaomi claims that the output of devices from the general network for a while will solve a problem for now specialists are engaged in it. This failure was connected with the last update of the software released on December 26, 2019. Updating "was developed for improvement of quality of stream transfer from the camera", and the problem "arose only in extremely rare conditions" because of bad network connection.
In a case s/r/Dio-V the problem arose in the course of integration of the camera Mi Home Security Camera Basic 1080p into the Google Home Hub screen at a bad signal of network. The representative of the company claims that if the camera is connected to the Xiaomi Mi Home application, such problem should not arise. It is supposed that fault mentioned up to one thousand users by whom software updating is required.[1]
