2025: Product Announcement

In November 2025, Xiaomi introduced a new device for detecting water leaks to the Chinese market - Xiaomi Water Guard 2. The product became available for order in large online stores at a price of 69 yuan.

According to Gizmochina, the device has a round shape with a diameter of 55 mm, and its thickness is 19.5 mm. The body and button are made using two-color casting technology, which ensures monolithic design. The degree of protection IP67 allows the device to be used in dusty and wet rooms.

Engineers equipped the device with two detection systems. The lower sensor reacts to a water layer from 0.5 mm high, and the upper sensor detects falling droplets or splashes. This arrangement allows effective control of both floor surfaces and places at height, such as under sinks or washing machines.

The leak alert occurs in three ways. The built-in sound speaker and light supply local signals, working without an Internet connection. Through the Mi Home app, users receive remote notifications, monitor water status, adjust the frequency of alerts and check battery power.

The Gizmochina edition clarifies: when connected through the Bluetooth Mesh gateway, the device interacts with other products of the Xiaomi HyperOS ecosystem. If a leak is detected, it can automatically shut off the smart outlet to reduce the risk of a short circuit.

The model runs on Bluetooth 5.2 wireless and is powered by a CR2450 battery. Energy efficient design allows you to extend the battery life up to three years. Nickel-plated probes are resistant to corrosion, and the body materials are protected from yellowing under the influence of ultraviolet light.^[1]
