White Paper: Backup System
2024
Version v1.1 with T-BOOST Technology
YADRO on September 30, 2024 introduced an updated version of specialized enterprise systems for storing and restoring backup data TATLIN.BACKUP v1.1. The solution now provides even more opportunities to optimize and accelerate backup processes and reduce storage costs.
TATLIN.BACKUP v1.1 introduces T-BOOST technology developed by YADRO engineers to improve the efficiency and performance of backup processes through load balancing. The technology has been pre-tested based on customer scenarios and is now available to all company customers through the Early Access Program.
The key feature of T-BOOST is data deduplication at the source (client) and the transfer of only unique data, which significantly reduces the load on the network and speeds up the process of writing backups. Tests have shown that when simultaneously writing backups with repeating blocks of data through the T-BOOST protocol, on average, the write speed can increase by up to 3 times, and the network load will decrease by 10 times or more. Also, a proprietary protocol provides secure data transfer and protects them from ransomware viruses. T-BOOST supports flexible configuration and is compatible with various Russian and international operating systems.
We continuously develop the product capabilities of TATLIN.BACKUP, increasing the performance and stability of the system. T-BOOST technology, for example, allows you to use the product to protect storage with large amounts of data and limited backup time, ensuring the security of critical data. In the future, we also plan to expand support on Fibre Channel, "said Yegor Litvinov, TATLIN Product Director at YADRO. |
In addition, in version v1.1, the hardware platform was optimized, the overall system performance was improved by an average of 70%, VLAN support was added for organizing virtual LANs and ensuring data transfer security, and services for collecting and analyzing system logs were expanded. The GUI has also been improved for the convenience of users and administrators.
Tatlin.Backup - Russian Backup DSS
Russian IT equipment manufacturer YADRO has introduced a new storage system (DSS) TATLIN.BACKUP, designed for backup and recovery of data in medium and large businesses. Backup and recovery is one of the most important elements of the information security and data protection strategy for any organization. After the departure of foreign DSS manufacturers and backup system developers from Russia, the interest of domestic customers in this segment increased significantly. Read more in the article.
Start of Tatlin.Backup sales
On April 11, 2024, YADRO announced the start of sales of a product - corporate backup systems TATLIN.BACKUP. The solution was developed by YADRO engineers and, according to them, meets global standards for storing and restoring backups.
The system is optimized for writing, storing, and restoring existing data arrays with greater backup expansion capabilities. TATLIN.BACKUP provides an integrated solution based on the products of domestic companies to protect data from failures and cyber threats.
One of the key qualities of TATLIN.BACKUP is efficient compression. The information system is based on multithreaded on-the-fly deduplication in variable-length blocks, which significantly reduces the storage capacity of any type of data. ZSTD compression is also used for storage efficiency to algorithm without additional load on the central one. processor
The first model of the TATLIN.BACKUP.M line has one controller with disks, from 1 to 4 expansion shelves and a maximum volume of 690 TB. The maximum effective compression capacity of 6:1 reaches 4 PB.
TATLIN.BACKUP is an enterprise solution in the development of which we sought to implement compression algorithms that not only significantly reduce the size of stored data, but also increase storage performance. The solution allows for global deduplication, which reduces the cost of storing backups, "explained Pavel Egorov, Chief Product Officer at YADRO. - It is also important to mention an additional mechanism for transmitting unique data from the T-Boost source. This is our original development that expands the capabilities of TATLIN.BACKUP systems and multiples the speed of data transfer, reducing the load on the network, which is extremely important for corporate customers. |
TATLIN.BACKUP provides a high level of data protection. In addition to classic mechanisms such as RAID technologies, additional security tools are used - Copy-on-write, T10 PI, proactive logging, write integrity check, and its own T-RAID algorithm with a 10 + 2 protection scheme. This makes the system resistant to power loss at any time, failure of 1 or 2 disks at the same time, and is also insensitive to software failures, DRAM errors or the drives themselves.
The system provides the ability to expand the customer's infrastructure, in particular, the work of DSS with any software that supports backup. The tests carried out show the flexibility of the product and the ability to work with both local and international solutions.
