2021: G-Cloud Announcement
Yandex.Cloud began implementing the G-Cloud project, within the framework of which it will provide cloud services for government agencies, the company said on September 24, 2021. Based on the infrastructure and services of the Yandex.Cloud platform, a separate installation will be created that meets the requirements of security and security regulators for hosting government information systems.
Yandex.Cloud expects that this will enable state organizations to use public cloud platform services to develop and operate new digital products, flexible and transparent pricing, professional technical support.
We see the need and demand for cloud technology from government organizations. Obviously, the incentive is the urgent need for the practical implementation of large-scale projects for the digital transformation of enterprises and entire industries in practice, and not on paper, "says Oleg Koverznev, operating director of the Yandex.Cloud platform. |
The company also expects that the G-Cloud project will remove the barrier to the use of public cloud platforms in the public sector, create additional growth opportunities for the Yandex.Cloud partner ecosystem through new projects in education, health care, and for federal and regional authorities.
Looking at the projects that state organizations are implementing now, the company sees that they are implementing the entire stack of technologies: infrastructure and platform services, a data platform, server-free computing, ML/AI services, TAdviser said in Yandex.Cloud. The company focuses on this when creating G-Cloud.
To comply with the requirements of regulators for the placement of state information systems in the data centers of Yandex, isolated segments are created on dedicated equipment, additional physical security measures are provided, support for Russian crypto algorithms is being introduced. Also, to work with G-Cloud, a separate user authentication system is created from the public segment of the platform.
It is planned that the G-Cloud platform will be ready for the deployment of GIS systems by the end of 2022. The cost of services in Yandex.Cloud has not yet been commented on. As of September, joint work is underway with regulators on certification and certification requirements for the platform.
Recall that in Russia, the Goblako project (state unified cloud platform) is also being created to host state information systems, for which the Ministry of Digital Affairs is responsible. At the beginning of 2021, after an experiment with Gosoblak, the Ministry of Digital Affairs stated that a critical element of the new Gosoblak cloud architecture is a market approach to choosing cloud service providers for this project. Previously, the functioning of Gosoblak was provided by one supplier - Rostelecom. But in the future, the Ministry of Finance wants to see other participants, who today are many[1]. Why?. Commercial service providers for Gosoblak projects are selected at tenders.
Yandex.Cloud told TAdviser that G-cloud plans to become a commercial supplier that would make up an alternative to the Gosoblako Mincifra project to place GIS. An important competitive advantage of G-cloud in the company is the high level of support and ease of use of the platform.
Yandex.Cloud has been on the market since 2018. Initially, there were 8 services in our portfolio, now there are more than 50. The platform is evolving and is now ready to offer its customers a full set of cloud technologies. As the platform develops, we highlight individual user segments and look for optimal solutions for them, "explained TAdviser in Yandex.Cloud. - The public sector has significantly increased the use of cloud services in recent years and we are ready to offer solutions that meet regulatory requirements. |
