2019: "Yandex" will start the air taxi in Moscow area
During the international MAKS-2019 air show at the end of August, 2019 Helicopters of Russia signed with service " Yandex.taxi " the agreement on development in Moscow of the system of the air taxi.
The agreement was signed by the CEO of "BP Technologies" (enters into Helicopters of Russia holding) Alexander Okhonko and the director of strategic partnership of " Yandex.taxi " Alexey Fedotov.
For flights the VRT-500 helicopters will be used. This model accomodates up to 5 people, gathers speed to 230 km/h, is capable to fly of distances up to 1000 km and to take aboard up to 750 kg of payload.
"Yandex" expects to make the air taxi available through the application in the smartphone. The company reported that over time in " Yandex.taxi " there will be an additional option which will allow on certain segments of a way instead of the car to use helicopter.
Under the terms of the reached agreement, partners will be engaged in joint development of an ecosystem which includes UAVs and the piloted devices, a management system for air traffic, etc.
Test flights of the air taxi of the company intend to begin in 2019 in the Moscow region and the zone MKAD.
