YubiKey is a line of devices for two-factor authentication.
On October 20, 2017, Yubico introduced a line of devices for two-factor authentication.
Authentication procedure:
- The key is inserted into the USB port.
- the computer defines it as an external USB HID keyboard.
- generates a one-time Yubikey password by pressing the touch button.
- You can leave the device connected to the port.
- after shutdown, the computer is completely safe.
The devices support various authentication mechanisms:
- One-time passwords (OTPs)
- OpenPGP infrastructure;
- OATH-TOTP;
- OATH-HOTP;
- smart card devices;
- FIDO U2F.
