Tele2 systematically develops network in St. Petersburg and area

2020: Development of network

Tele2 company reported on November 23, 2020 that it continues to develop network in St. Petersburg and area. Since the beginning of year the company built additional base stations in the city, its neighborhoods and also in 7 areas of the Leningrad Region, provided with the first communication and the mobile Internet throughout the Western High-Speed Diameter (WHSD), added 4G on all base stations in the region.

Due to growth of traffic of the mobile Internet which only in 4G network since January, 2020 increased by 33% the operator systematically develops network in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.

The company started the set base stations across all St. Petersburg: in the central regions of the city and also in large residential quarters. In particular, the quality of the mobile Internet was improved in sign places of the city – in Aleksandrovsk the park, in the territory of the Peter and Paul Fortress, in Peterhof. Considerably improved quality of the mobile Internet in Murin and Kudrov. Additional objects of communication also appeared in the Volkhov, Vsevolozhsk, Kingisepp, Kirishi, Kirov, Podporozhsky and Lomonosov districts. Residents of Tosno, Yanino, Yam-Tesovo, Syasstroy, Sosnovy Bor, Vyborg, Gorelovo and other localities of area could be already convinced of excellent communication quality of the operator.

Western High-Speed Diameter became an important object for the St. Petersburg branch Tele2. The operator closed zones uncertainly of acceptance of a signal and provided communication throughout all 46 kilometers of the road. In terms of technical implementation this project became a call for the company: difficult design features of the Western High-Speed Diameter did not allow to be limited to traditional antenna and mast constructions. Technical specialists installed telecommunication equipment on a framework of a system of management tools traffic.

Tele2 carried out a complex of works on increase in capacity of network on the loaded sections. In areas with fast-growing traffic the band of LTE-1800 was expanded to 15 MHz. On the operating base stations for increase in capacity added the equipment of range of LTE-2600, differing in higher capacity. In 6 districts of the area began to use also LTE-800 standard which main advantage is the range and good penetration of a signal.

Besides, on Tele2 network activated the Carrier Aggregation system (consolidation of bearing). She allows to use at the same time several frequency ranges for Internet access. Thanks to it owners of relevant models of smartphones can use the mobile Internet at the highest speeds. In general systematic upgrade of network allowed to save taking into account the increased traffic the high level of communication quality for consumers.

Technical specialists of Tele2 also completed the project on adding of the LTE standard on all base stations in the region. Now the high-speed mobile Internet is available in all territory of a covering of the operator.

In order that clients of the operator could monitor quickly improvements of communication quality, the company started the website where all changes in network functioning are in real time broadcast.
