On October 25, 2018 the Sonet company announced project completion on upgrade of IT infrastructure of Agat autoholding.

Premises and project tasks

In the conditions of the permanent growth of volume of the processed data, in the company planned to centralize work of all motor shows and to pass on 1C V8.3. It simplified management of a distributed infrastructure, guaranteed transparency of information flows and high speed of decision making.

In Agat company to the project each motor show had several databases, each of which accommodated on the separate server: in one sold cars, in another — an insurance, in the third — repaired, separately accrued the payroll, etc. It was necessary to integrate tens of these separate bases, to create a uniform information field and to provide a high data exchange rate in all network of salons without any exception. However, also load of a system at the same time raised. If earlier each small server slowly "pulled" local base of the motor show, then during creation of a single system all responsibility laid down on uniform corporate DPC which had to integrate the most part of infrastructure and application services.

According to representatives of Agat company, storage subsystems were a bottleneck. Earlier DAS — solutions the disk storage modules connected to servers were used. It did not allow to provide the sufficient capacity of storage and speed of input-output of data. So creation of the selected storage system for service of all systems and applications in DPC became a priority.

Course and results of the project

For storage system the Customer gave preference in selection process of the platform to the offer of HPE because:

  • First, 3PAR StoreServ allows to store as "hot" data, providing high-speed access to applications to each employee of the company, and "cold", seldom demanded. In the conditions of the limited budget, an opportunity not to buy separate storage systems for different loadings — great advantage.
  • Secondly, Sonet company integrator, solving a "turnkey" problem, provided Agathe advantageous conditions at the price.

Reliable work of autoholding in 1C V8.3 in a uniform information field became a project deliverable. As a result, for 1.5 years of work of infrastructure, it was succeeded to optimize staff, the salons servicing local servers. Economy made 8 million rubles, thus that the equipment costed 6 million rubles.

Transition of automobile company "Agat" to architecture of SAN on the 3PAR StoreServ platform was performed successfully. As noted in Agat company, according to the results of implementation the company received predictable conditions of development of storage system for conscious costs planning. Besides, having unrolled a single system of storage for all tasks, the IT service of the company got rid of need to constantly control work of huge number of the hard drives connected to different servers.

Creation of a system for operational backup as upon transition to productive DWH data change much more more often than it was earlier, when using disk arrays became the second stage of development of IT infrastructure of Agat company. In this connection it was required to provide simple, available and flexible data protection with fast recovery and integration at the level of applications.

Technologies of the HPE 3PAR StoreServ platform used on the first step of upgrade allowed to create the system of a backup the simplest and efficiently — on the separate HPE StoreOnce device. As a result the efficiency of data recovery grew, up to separate files, at much lower costs in comparison with old solutions as in such scheme there is no backup software separate, and the cost of ownership and complexity, thanks to the automatic protection integrated into applications is also reduced.

Initially planned replacement of servers of DPC became the final stage of upgrade. Rack servers with which the project began were not rather effective, took a lot of place and generated a lot of heat.

It was decided to use the equipment HPE Synergy providing continuous access to resources of calculations, storage and switching in the form of uniform pools of the resources which are instantly configured according to specific needs of each application. Thanks to this the blade system was succeeded to reduce the areas of DPC, to reduce amount of heat, and to begin to save as a result seriously on external infrastructure: uninterruptible power supplies, conditioners, etc.

Thanks to the project the Agat company ensured competitive advantage in the industry, both on speed, and on reliability of the used infrastructure.
