2019: Signing of the memorandum of cooperation
On February 19, 2019 the Dassault Systèmes company announced signing of the five-year memorandum of cooperation with Airbus company. The agreement assumes implementation of applications for 3D - design, development, production, modeling and data analysis. It will allow Airbus to achieve break in digital transformation of the business and to lay the foundation for the European industrial ecosystem in the field of aircraft.
Under the terms of the memorandum Airbus will implement the Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE platform which provides digital integrity of all technology chain, from design before transactions, using a uniform data model for the unified user experience. All this will make digital design, production and services (digital design, manufacturing and services, DDMS) available in all divisions of Airbus and for all product lines.
The concept of DDMS creates conditions for development in design of products, increase in operational efficiency, rendering technical support and service, increase in customer satisfaction and in implementation of new business models as its implementation marks transition from consecutive development processes to parallel. Instead of focusing first of all on product characteristics, Airbus will be able to participate in design and development of airplanes of the next generation, locating at the same time production capacities which will be able to release these airplanes, minimizing costs and reducing products output time for the market, consider in Dassault Systèmes.
"We speak not just about digitalization or implementation of industry solutions, we reinterpret methods of design and operation of airplanes, optimizing and accelerating our processes for increase in level of customer satisfaction. The concept of DDMS acts as the catalyst of changes, and with its help we create model of the European aerospace industry in which the most modern technologies will be used. Our purpose is creation of effective conditions of production which would allow to reduce product development terms". Guillaume Faury, president of Airbus Commercial Aircraft |
"Rates of transformation of the space industry always advance the majority of other industries. There are advanced innovations and services for work in very difficult and regulated environments. Implementation of platform 3DEXPERIENCE is intended to accelerate digital transformation of Airbus. As a result the company will be able to receive the new ideas and to use examination and the knowledge base of all the ecosystem for creation of the user experience and solutions – and it becomes possible only in the conditions of a digital medium". 2016: Expansion of the sphere of use of platform 3DExperience
On June 14, 2016 the Dassault Systèmes company announced expansion of the sphere of use of platform 3DExperience by Airbus Group holding at the enterprises and intention to use it in the programs of additive manufacturing.
Project Tasks
The Airbus Group holding intends to use the Dassault Systèmes applications intended for joint design and modeling of processes as a component of industry solution of "Co-Design to Target", for creation by additive methods of the instrumental equipment, prototyping, production of parts for carrying out flight tests and for commercial operation of these parts in commercial aircraft.
It is supposed that having implemented platform 3DExperience the Airbus Group holding will be able to achieve digital integrity and succession of the processes, to optimize work on conceptual projects due to virtual confirmation and control of each stage of additive production process. Using the Dassault Systèmes applications and relying on the leading positions and technical experience in area of additive technologies, Airbus Group will be able to have more opportunities for design and production in the order.
In the numerous projects implemented in Airbus technologies of additive manufacturing – for production of prototypes and also for release directly of parts even more often are used that in some cases also the cost of parts, but at the same time with full compliance with technology standards, requirements to performance, security and cost allows to lose weight. – The Airbus company uses the Dassault Systèmes applications for modeling of processes for the purpose of acceleration of structural analysis and carrying out virtual tests of aircraft for a long time, and now we had an opportunity to implement a new method of design of parts due to use of a method of modeling (simulation-based design), for even more complete satisfaction of requirements of the aviation industry. Robert Nardini, the senior vice president for design of aircraft in Airbus |
Additive manufacturing opens a set of new opportunities in the most different spheres, for example, allowing to implement remote production for the purposes of maintenance and support, or rapid prototyping for the embodiment of the new ideas and their check in practice, and, what is the most important, new technologies allow to develop and create such constructions which could not be made earlier. Using this approach, Airbus Group will be able to take advantage of the new generation of tools to process automation provided within platform 3DExperience to design of different parts, not important, they will be printed on the 3D-printer or to be made on other technology. All this will lead to a new wave of transformation in the space industry. The complex tools allowing to work with all aspects of design at additive manufacturing of parts including with aspects of materials science, functional specifications are presented in platform 3DExperience and also possibilities of design using former experience are implemented, optimization appliances of processes 3D are printings, tools for production and certification of products. Dominique Florack, senior executive vice president of Dassault Systèmes for research and development |
