2025: Transition to Astra Linux and ALD Pro

Irkutsk International Airport JSC is switching to non-import-dependent technologies, and one of the key stages of this large-scale project was the replacement of Windows and MS Active Directory with certified Astra Linux platform and ALD Pro catalog service from Astra Group. Migration will allow the company to achieve several strategic goals at once: meet regulatory requirements, increase the level of data security and the entire IT landscape, ensure business stability in any external environment and optimize infrastructure ownership costs. Astra announced this on February 28, 2025.

Air transportation is extremely significant for the entire economy, and Irkutsk Airport: its passenger traffic in 2024 amounted to 3,957,029 people. The customer's IT specialists prepared for the replacement of the software very carefully. First, they formed a list of product requirements, analyzed the offers on the market, read them carefully and then opted for Astra Linux and ALD Pro.

The key factors were the ability to organize smooth migration while maintaining continuity of work processes, full compatibility of solutions, a high level of information security and fault tolerance, the availability of all the functionality necessary for the airport, up to centralized management of the entire fleet of domain objects. In addition, a significant role was played by the fact that the vendor provides a single window technical support service and quickly helps in everything related to its products, including in the OS bundle - a domain controller.

The customer purchased licenses for the operating system, including Astra Linux Server and ALD Pro. The contract concluded with the developer at the end of 2024 provides for the introduction of products into the server infrastructure and for 500 staff jobs, as well as technical support services for a period of 3 years. It is planned that the workplaces will first be transferred to the new platform, and then they will be transferred to the ALD Pro domain.
