For many years Nyurnbergademonstriruyet airport steady growth. Not least because of important winter transit node of Air Berlin airline the number of passengers and baggage continuously grows. On this basis the airport made large investments into well functioning infrastructure in recent years. For processing of baggage in terminals and in the sorting luggage shop which is specially built for needs of Air Berlin there was enough management system based on Real of DOS earlier. For the different reasons in 2005 the airport made the decision on replacement or upgrade of this system. Search of the modern and checked management system, whenever possible, on the basis of Solaris began. Besides, the supplier had to have already experience on replacement of the software during operation.

The choice was stopped on the PSIairport/BHS software product of development PSI Logistics GmbH. This basic software is already successfully operated at many airports regardless of software environment of the enterprise. At the same time the PSI Logistics company is known also for the experience of participation in projects of upgrade (replacement of systems during operation).

Already 5/1/2006 the new management system undertook all operational functions.

Problem definition and requirements

In addition to a software package for sorting of baggage of PSIairport/BHS also the system of approval of baggage PSIairport/BRS is used.

Both systems are already operated at the different domestic and international airports.

Data exchange between the connected airlines and the PSI Logistics system happens to the help of the standardized IATA messages according to RP 1745 (BSM/BPM).

The PSIairport/BHS system helps operators with their daily work, for example, thanks to the convenient graphic planning table. Cyclically repeating diagrams of runs are considered by means of creation and storage of so-called daily diagrams. Daily time expenditure for planning of production processes, thus, is minimized. Specialized dialogs of jobs are optimized for effective work. Extensive statistical data and information dialogs and also integration into the existing office environment (Word, Excel, etc.) supplement the PSIairport/BHS installation.

The PSIairport/BRS functions are freely built in the general system. For example, registration of loading of baggage is performed using use of radio-frequency scanners. Processing and printout of the loading sheet also belong to the PSIairport/BRS functions.

Thanks to integration of sorting and registration of baggage, processing of baggage becomes absolutely transparent for all participants. This aspect is of great importance especially at the airports with big irregularity of peak load (a problem of transit nodes).

Configuration

IT department of the airport provided a cluster of Fujitsu Siemens under Solaris 5.9 with Oracle 9. Jobs of operators are equipped with the Windows 2000 Professional operating system.

The system of the increased reliability obtains data on baggage via the PSI Logistics gateway computer from so-called BSM clients who in turn obtain information on baggage from the connected systems of the relevant airlines.

For review baggage radio-frequency scanners of production Datalogic are used. The radio-frequency Dragon M101/D scanners are characterized by the small weight, reliability and convenience in the address. Evident displays give to the user the chance to focus on the main thing. Need for their service for operating conditions is almost excluded.
