Alfa-Bank (Russia) (Microsoft Visual Studio Team System)

Alfa-Bank carried out implementation of Microsoft Visual Studio as a single platform of development, the press service of developer reported on April 30, 2013.

Support of outdated applications was too costly for bank, and their development practically stopped. Use of the separate automation equipment, such as Excel macroes, led to the fact that the implemented tools were difficult to be supported: documentation on them was absent also understanding of their internal logic and interrelations was quickly lost. Before the IT management of bank there was a need of the choice of the new platform of development. In 2007 as a new single platform of development selected Microsoft Visual Studio.

Solution

The first stage of mastering of the new platform was marked by application development in the environment of .NET Visual Studio in the C# language. In particular, intra bank document flow of processing of the request for issuance of credit is automated, the solution for maintenance and financial control of the issued corporate credits is created.

In 2008 made the decision to automate all process of team software development. For this purpose also selected software from structure of the Visual Studio — Team Foundation Server (TFS). At first a system was unrolled in scales of one department. According to the results of use decided to expand application of TFS on all directorate of design and development and at the same time to update the platform to the version of TFS 2010 to which added tools for management of testing.

"On the other hand, at this platform rather low "level of occurrence" – and we can attract to accomplishment of the simplest tasks even students probationers. It allows to distribute reasonably resources and at the same time to raise own qualified personnel", - Yury Neshchadimov, the head of department of design and development of business systems of the IT Block of Alfa-Bank noted.

Advantages of implementation are mentioned:

• reduction of terms of application development and implementation of requirements of business;
• convenience of further maintenance and development of the developed solutions;
• simplicity and transparency of process control of development;
• rather low cost of the licenses Visual Studio, so, and the applications created on its basis;
• improvement of organization and discipline in a project team;
• lack of problems with search and training of developer specialists.
