Aluminum Metallurg Rus (AMR) from the Rostov Region has launched a project to produce high-tech components for exoprostheses. For this, cooperation with the state corporation Rostec was launched. The press service of the latter on January 19, 2023 announced that more than 1 billion rubles of private investment were attracted for the project.

The new production of exoprostheses will be organized on the basis of one of the oldest production enterprises in Russia, the first prosthetic plant in the country - MPO Metalist. Initially, the joint venture will focus on the production of knee modules with mechanical and pneumatic assemblies, as well as prosthetic carbon fiber feet. By January 2023, a series of modern adjustment and connecting devices for prostheses of the lower extremities was developed, the procedure for their introduction into the series was launched.

Production is scheduled to reach full capacity within two years. In the future, the project provides for the introduction of bionic technologies to expand the line of domestic prostheses.

According to the deputy general director of Rostec Maxim Vybornykh, the participation of private capital in the project will allow in a short time to create a network of workshops in the country and organize the development and production of a line of components for exoprostheses.

Now we are preparing an appeal to the Ministry of Labor in order to adjust approaches to the existing system of financing prosthetics services. To ensure the full life of people who have lost their limbs, it is important to establish uninterrupted production by applying the best domestic and foreign practices.
