Yandex.Cloud will support solution development on recognition of a font of Braille

Yandex.Cloud will provide cloud resources, a hosting and mentor support to the Angelina Braille Reader project. Announced this Yandex on November 17, 2020.

Angelina Braille Reader is an algorithm of interpretation of the Russian and English texts written by Braille's font. Except the literal text the algorithm allows to decrypt mathematical characters. The author of the project, Ilya Ovodov, called the solution in honor of the daughter Angelina.

To read textbooks on Braille, it is necessary to know 256 characters of a font and their possible combinations. Even visual impairment specialists and the tiflopsikholog working with children with visual impairment daily spend for preparation for school lessons till 6 o'clock. Ilya Ovodov's solution allows to reduce this time to half an hour. Besides, Angelina Braille Reader can be used for digitization of the Braille textbooks, submission of written addresses and answers to them and also for the organization of participation of visually impaired school students in the All-Russian Olympic Games.

The open code of a prototype is available to all who will want to help with completion of the solution. In plans - creation of mobile application for users around the world.
