Arteks company one of official dealers of Jaguar Land Rover in Russia. The company works at the market since 1995 and steadily shows good results. In the service centers of the company about 50 cars are daily serviced.
Business of Arteks company grew from division of the large-scale car dealer. After secession of group there was a question of development of IT infrastructure. The IT service already located to that moment the server park consisting as of branded, and "self-combined" servers, but it was clear that the equipment is hopelessly obsolete as the majority of servers was more than 5-7 years old. The IT service needed to increase significantly fault tolerance of IT infrastructure and to provide acceleration of the most important business processes. At the same time it was not less important to put opportunities for scaling in the future and to meet a certain budget.
After a successful completion of upgrade of infrastructure the IT service of the customer jointly with specialists of DEPO Computers started the following tasks of development of IT: expense optimizations on service of IT infrastructure and implementation of remote access for the staff of sales department that had to reduce quantity of an automated workplace in a trading floor and provide higher level of protection of corporate data.
Perspective
As the official dealer of cars of a premium class of Land Rover and Jaguar the company should provide continuity and high quality of all services, many of which directly depend on operability of IT infrastructure. The major components in this question – the CRM system and the corporate mail server. Across these canals there passes all interaction with producers and also process of authorization of cars. Therefore all projects on development of IT infrastructure should not have had the slightest impact on the current processes, and direct implementation it was necessary to carry out to most short time.
At the first stage of the project specialists of DEPO Computers investigated load of the working servers of Arteks company. On the basis of collected statistical data the solution which is ideally meeting needs of the customer was developed: in IT infrastructure of the company the virtualization farm consisting of three servers and a storage system was implemented. For technical support of the solution the Arteks company used service of DEPO Cloud Support within which remote service of virtual infrastructure by engineers of DEPO Computers is performed.
At the second stage the protected remote access of staff of the company to virtual work places based on RDS technology was organized. For this purpose in cloud infrastructure two Remote Desktop Session Host servers, the center of authorization Certification Authority and also RDS Broker Server which is engaged in balancing of loading were started. All personal computers of employees were supplied with the smart card readers allowing to get access to virtual machines.
Use of virtual environment allowed to save considerably on acquisition of the equipment — processes for which separate physical servers were required earlier, are executed on virtual machines now. IT specialists of Arteks company successfully transferred the services working at an obsolete equipment to virtual infrastructure that allowed to accelerate all business processes and also to provide fault tolerance of crucial applications.
Thanks to service of DEPO Cloud Support monitoring and administration of a system were undertaken by specialists of the dispatching center DEPO Computers, and the IT service of Arteks company could release resources under other projects.
Implementation of technology of terminal access allowed to reduce the number of the personal computers used in a trading floor — the staff of Arteks company as required is instantly connected to the virtual work places from any PC. At the same time the system of two-level authentication (a smart card and a PIN code) allows to provide confidential data protection.
Project deliverables for business
On the funds allocated for development of IT infrastructure, the company could purchase only 10 physical servers, but for the same money 20 virtual machines already work, and there are considerable resources for further scaling. Acceleration of business processes allows to implement regularly new services and unique services, for example, such as "TO for an hour" that, certainly, positively affects business growth. Transfer of service of IT infrastructure to specialists of DEPO Computers allowed not only to release employees of IT department for the solution of more important strategic tasks of business, but also to cut down expenses almost twice.
