"Autostals-Tech" with the support of GlowByte built an analytical platform

2024: Creating an Analytical Platform

Avtostals-Tech, a subsidiary of the Avtostels wholesale service and logistics platform, together with partner GlowByte has developed an analytical platform for data management. GlowByte announced this on May 13, 2024.

The project team built a 1.2 TB data warehouse to solve analytics, reporting, and mathematical model building problems. This allowed more than a 30% to reduce the time for the development of dashboards and save employees of the commercial department up to 30 hours of working time per week, which previously went to Excel reports.

To create an analytical platform, the following technology stack was chosen: DBMS - Greenplum, as a tool for loading data - open source ETL tool Apache NiFi. Orchestration is carried out using Apache AirFlow. In Yandex Cloud, Managed Service for Greenplum, DataLens, Compute Cloud virtual machines were chosen to work.

The storage took five months to develop. The data in the vault is updated every 2 hours, and the full refresh cycle of all layers takes about 1 hours.

With the help of the analytical platform, Avtostels-Tech visualizes data on sales, orders, revenue, gross profit and markup, predicts revenue until the end of the month, as well as based on data from previous periods, taking into account holidays, days of the week and the overall trend, compares different indicators year after year, segments customers for different stages of user scenarios, assessing how functionality improves conversion at one stage or another.

With the introduction of a technological solution, the company increased the speed of solving Ad-hoc problems, the development of ds-models and dashboards for the commercial department appeared. The implemented solution is convenient to support thanks to the use of managed services. All expenses are transparent and easy to estimate.

Taking into account the growth rate of the company and the transformation of the business, the task of introducing data tools has become one of the key.
