2023: Implementation of Engineering Calculation Techniques

Advent Engineering and PJSC Aviation Complex named after S.V. Ilyushin on May 25, 2023 announced the completion of the next stage of a comprehensive project to introduce engineering calculation methods, build design processes and systematize training for specialists at PJSC Il.

Large corporations engaged in the production of complex and high-tech industrial products and with a huge staff of engineers need a properly built IT infrastructure of the enterprise. The development of CAE technologies makes it possible to achieve efficiency both in the field of design and numerical modeling of products, and in terms of creating a unified information system for managing engineering data.

Digital computer design methods have been used in the Ilyushin design bureau for several decades, but now it has become quite obvious that it is necessary to reach a new level of process organization.

Considering the importance and complexity of the task of developing a strategy for using current methods of design development and high-precision calculations at all stages of design, IL decided to involve the Russian integrator Advent Engineering in the task of constructing and optimizing the design structure.

The integration project at Ilyushin included two stages:

1. Develop the process of implementing the software complex of the unified information system for managing engineering calculations, write 12 methods for calculating engineering tasks of the enterprise (for aerodynamics, strength and optimization), as well as their integration into the product lifecycle management environment to provide a single platform for end-to-end digital design.
2. Train the specialists of the enterprise to work with the installed software, as well as with the processes developed within the framework of this project.

The integrated approach formed by Advent Engineering, which includes the supply of software, the preparation of calculation methods and training, helps to reduce the implementation period and minimize the time spent by employees of the enterprise from solving real problems, "said Dmitry Maltsev, General Director of Advent Engineering. - The further development and application of engineering modeling using the already accumulated base will contribute to the production of increasingly advanced aircraft of new generations with improved competitive characteristics.

As a result of the project implementation, the goals set in the strategy of the IL Design Bureau in terms of the project of introducing a unified information system for managing engineering data were fully achieved. Further introduction of the developed solutions into commercial operation should actually show the effectiveness of the new calculation technology, - said Roman Chekunov, head of the product life cycle systems department.
