On August 9, 2023, Chinese conglomerate BYD, the world's largest electric vehicle maker, and telecommunications corporation Huawei announced a joint project to create smart manufacturing sites.
It is noted that BYD, against the background of the modernization of production and the introduction of digital technologies, is transferring an increasing number of workloads to the cloud. These are design tools, various application systems, research and development platforms and other resources. The efficient operation of all these services requires a high-speed and reliable computer network. In addition, many production terminals, as well as automation systems, need to be connected to the IT infrastructure.
Automaker BYD has chosen Huawei to create a 10 Gb/s network based on the CloudCampus solution. This is a set of technologies that allows you to manage the entire deployed network infrastructure from a single cloud. The platform can be supplemented with new devices and scenarios. CloudCampus is said to provide a simplified architecture, ease of use and maintenance.
Many of BYD's manufacturing tasks, such as the fabrication and warehousing of batteries and semiconductor products, require wireless networks for transit communications. In particular, various types of terminals (barcode scanners, information panels, tablets), automatic vehicles and robotic systems must be connected to them. It is noted that the BYD network has more than 100,000 all kinds of wireless devices. In general, the platform can support up to 300,000 users, and scaling is possible in the future. Special AI-based tools are used to collect performance indicators and data on the state of network devices. When a problem occurs, it takes only a few minutes to detect the problem, identify its root cause, and offer effective solutions to the problem.[1]
