Project Task

Strategic task of JSC Belkamneft - increase in production efficiency, increase in volumes of oil production and oil recovery of layers. Among the priority directions of development of JSC Belkamneft - expansion of the market of rendering operator services in oil production, application of modern information technologies for cost reduction and increase in return of a business asset, program implementation on environmental, industrial safety and labor protection.

They are put in a basis of automation of all technology processes in JSC Belkamneft. Work of the relevant services of the company assumes single data entry, as a rule, on site of their receiving. It belongs to all processes which are directly connected with oil production: to accounting of volumes of oil, borehole liquid (water gas-oil emulsion), the electric power and also to the providing processes - motor transportation service, warehouse, to accounting. With respect thereto JSC Belkamneft was required use of new modern management tools the enterprise therefore the decision on ERP system implementation was made.

When choosing a resource management system of the enterprise preference was given to a complex of the solutions mySAP ERP. This software product has broad functionality, allows to achieve a high integration scale of business processes, provides the built-in information and analytical systems of decision support, required level of information security. Besides, SAP has the developed infrastructure of service and support in Russia.

The mySAP platform is successfully applied in a number of the Russian industries, including mechanical engineering, oil production and the food industry. The mySAP ERP system for a row of years is one of the most widespread solutions for the enterprises of the oil and gas industry of Russia where tens of implementation projects of mySAP are successfully implemented. It provides the complete functionality necessary for management of finance, personnel, operating activities and customer, technology, project services of the enterprises. SAP products completely conform to requirements of such enterprises, and the company has the relevant industry proposals, including the solutions for personnel management of mySAP ERP for the enterprises of oil production providing the summary reporting under the personnel, a management system for finance of mySAP Financials, the solution in the field of management of logistics chains of mySAP SCM. Besides, mySAP offers means for effective system administration - centralized operation by data, users and Web services. These are modern tools for management of operational activity of the enterprise and strategic planning and also ensuring transparency of business processes of the company.

The enterprise management system is considered as the most important element of its activity today. Such system should have high degree of reliability. Project implementation which purpose were the choice of the correct architecture of a complex of computing means for mySAP ERP, its development and deployment on the platform of the customer, it was entrusted to I-Teco company. Specialists of I-Teco were faced by a task to construct the data processing center (DPC) ensuring continuous system operation of enterprise management of mySAP ERP.

Solution

According to the recommendations of SAP AG system implementation of enterprise management of mySAP ERP was performed in the three-system landscape consisting of different functional servers: productive, test and developments. The productive server ensures functioning of the modules automating business processes of the enterprise. Servers of development and testing are used to change of functionality of a system under specific needs of the enterprise, including to implementation of new features. It requires creation of new application programs and change of the mySAP ERP settings. Before transfer to the mode of commercial operation new functional and applied modules undergo testing in a test environment.

In terms of load of the computing platform the mySAP ERP system is the "heavy" application therefore the choice of a high-performance hardware platform is necessary. As the software of SAP forms a basis of an information system of the customer, crucial for business, the hardware platform should be highly reliable and scalable. After studying of different options of deployment of a server framework the corresponding choice was made. One of platforms in the industry best suitable for the solution of similar tasks, are Integrity HP servers with Intel® Itanium® 2 processors working running v2 HP-UX OS 11i.

HP servers of Integrity have high reliability, performance and efficiency that is especially important when implementing solutions in the field of crucial tasks of the enterprises. A set of the companies and organizations around the world use powerful HP servers of Integrity for work with such business solutions as mySAP Business Suite, in particular, with SAP applications of Advanced Planning & Optimization (SAP APO) and SAP Business Intelligence (SAP BI).

The project consisted of the next stages:

• Formation of requirements of the customer.
• The choice of solutions and the platform, determination of necessary parameters of servers so that the constructed DPC could service at the same time not less than 100 users of mySAP ERP and had not less than a double stock of scaling on the future.
• Testing of a complex on the platform of the customer with participation of specialists of JSC Belkamneft, HP and I-Teco Ltd.
• Transfer to commercial operation.

Now the functionality of SAP is placed based on the HP Integrity system - one of the most high-performance server platforms based on Intel processors. The HP server of Integrity is created for solving of tasks of high complexity, can be applied to creation of corporate DPCs, transaction processing systems, resource management of the enterprise (ERP), decision support, difficult technical calculations in different areas of engineering, scientific and technology activity. The HP Integrity complex with a high performance, power, security, controllability and low cost of ownership assumes linear accumulation of capacities.

In Russia there are already examples of successful system deployment of mySAP on these platforms in the different industries. In the oil and gas industry these platforms are applied to storage and management of big arrays of information. These platforms are widely used for solving of tasks of automation of technology processes in oil production and oil processing, sale of oil products, resource management of the enterprises. Systems which are based on Integrity HP servers allow the oil and gas companies to perform fast processing of large volumes of data. Industry experience of use of a HP server of Integrity based on the Intel processor Itanium 2 in the field of crucial tasks of the enterprise allows to speak about high efficiency of this solution. Feature of HP Integrity is the possibility of installation of several operating systems, and within one system they can be used at the same time.

In modern DPCs it is recommended to store data in the centralized disk storage. As such storage the failsafe StorageWorks EVA HP disk array which is high-performance storage system of an enterprise scale was selected.

The I-Teco company supplied to the customer all necessary equipment, and results of testing validated the choice of HP servers of Integrity and StorageWorks EVA HP disk arrays as the platform for mySAP ERP.

Result

As a result of the project executed by specialists of I-Teco company the customer received the full-fledged data processing center providing reliable functioning of the mySAP ERP enterprise management system.

Ratio the price/quality and cost of ownership were the main criteria when choosing the solution for JSC Belkamneft. Wide practical experience of specialists of I-Teco company allowed to pick up and show operability of the solution which is completely meeting criteria of the customer on the near-term outlook.

Project Development

As further development of the project implementation of monitors of system performance and building of the equipment of DPC in process of connection of new users to mySAP ERP is offered. Use of a new solution offers valuable prospects as this 64-bit platform has high potential of growth with transition to multi-core processors.

High performance of the server HP Integrity systems based on the Intel processor Itanium 2, cost efficiency, support of hardware sections the Integrity system and technologies of storage virtualization by the StorageWorks EVA HP disk array allow to build the consolidated data processing centers with a possibility of flexible redistribution of resources according to new requirements. At certain initial investments this platform will provide in the long term a possibility of building of computing resources without significant additional investments.
