2025: Starlink Internet Connectivity Plan
Emirates will introduce Starlink Wi-Fi on board all aircraft in its fleet. The first Boeing 777 will receive high-speed Internet as early as November 2025, completing implementation by mid-2027. The service will provide free, ultra-fast Internet at the ground connection level at cruising altitude. Emirates Airline announced this on November 17, 2025.
Thanks to the Starlink connection, passengers will be able to watch videos, play online games, make calls, stay connected to work and use social networks throughout the flight - both from individual screens on the plane and from personal devices. The service will be available in all classes of service.
Over the next two years, Emirates plans to install Starlink on the entire operating fleet - 232 airliners (as of November 2025). The first aircraft - Boeing 777-300ER with tail number A6-EPF - is already equipped with a system.
On average, Emirates plans to equip the system with about 14 aircraft per month; installation on the Airbus A380 will begin in February 2026.
For each Boeing 777, the airline will install two Starlink antennas, and on the A380 - three. This will provide maximum coverage, signal stability and high throughput in all cabin classes. In addition, Emirates will provide access to Live TV via Starlink, first on personal devices and, from the end of December 2025, on screens in seat backs. Access to Starlink on board Emirates will be free for all passengers and in all classes of service. The connection is carried out in one click - without payment and without obligatory registration in the Skywards program.

Other products available to airline passengers include more than 6,500 channels in the on-board ice entertainment system, a rest area aboard the A380 and SPA showers in the First Class cabin.
The initiative also reflects the scale of the modernization program, which will update the salons of almost 220 aircraft. As of November 2025, 76 completely modernized aircraft have already returned to operation: with a new Premium Economy Class, an updated Business Class and First Class cabins and improved interiors of the entire cabin.
2023: Boeing's $52 billion wide-body aircraft purchase contract
On November 13, 2023, Emirates Airline announced a contract for the purchase of Boeing wide-body aircraft worth approximately $52 billion. At the same time, FlyDubai, a subsidiary airline, signed an agreement to purchase Boeing airliners for $11 billion. Thus, the total value of contracts is $63 billion.
Emirates Airline is reportedly acquiring 55 Boeing 777-9s and 35 Boeing 777-8s. As a result, the total number of Boeing 777 modifications ordered by the airline (taking into account previously signed agreements) as of mid-November 2023 is 205 units. In addition, Emirates Airline purchased an additional five 787 Dreamliner airliners, bringing their total order volume to 35 units. In turn, FlyDubai acquired 30 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft: these will be the first wide-body liners in the company's fleet.
| From day one, Emirates Airline's business model was to operate modern and efficient wide-body aircraft capable of carrying large numbers of long-haul passengers comfortably and safely. The current orders for Boeing airliners reflect this strategy, "says His Highness Sheikh Hamdan ibn Mohammed Al Maktoum, Dubai's crown prince and chairman of Dubai's Executive Council. |
Emirates Airline operates the largest Boeing 777 fleet of any airline in the world as of November 2023. It is these liners that are the basis of Emirates Airline operations, allowing flights lasting up to 18 hours and connecting Dubai with cities on six continents without interruption. It is expected that by the beginning of the 2030s the airline's fleet will number approximately 350 airliners.[1]
