2024: Employee Optimization

Business Lines implemented the BIA Technologies IT integrator solution to reduce vehicle downtime and optimize employee performance. The carrier's partner has developed a flexible mechanism for assigning vehicles to the gates of divisions for operational cargo processing, as well as an algorithm for automatic distribution of cars to employees involved in loading and unloading. This was reported to BIA-Technologies on December 10, 2024.

As part of the project, the following processes were automated: warehouse inventory management, dispatching of cargo transportation, accounting for rolling stock and own transport. Also, the integration of the implemented algorithm with other information systems of the cargo carrier was configured. In addition, distance learning was carried out for employees to work with updates.

Due to the increase in the number of orders and an increase in cargo traffic, we needed to optimize the processes for the operational processing of a large number of traffic. Thanks to the implementation of this algorithm, transport downtime and cargo storage time at terminals were reduced, and the distribution of tasks between employees was optimized. As a result, staff productivity increased by 10%. This not only increased the efficiency of our work, but also made it possible to more quickly respond to the changing needs of customers, "said Dmitry Khrushchalev, Deputy General Director for Development of the Business Lines Group of Companies.

Technological innovation is not just a trend, but a prerequisite for the logistics industry. With growing demand and supply chain complexity, technology solutions allow companies to remain competitive. As part of the project, we changed the logic of the existing Yard Control Module (YMS), which is responsible for assigning vehicles to gates and calculating transport priorities. The implemented IT solutions will allow Business Lines to provide their customers with better service and remain industry leaders, "said BIA Technologies Commercial Director Alexander Volovik.

2021: Implementing a solution to automate first and last mile delivery

The logistics operator "Business Lines" plans about 2 thousand flights every day, keeps records of 400 parameters and optimally distributes orders to cars. This became possible with the help of a solution for automating delivery at the first and last mile - LISAD, implemented by BIA Technologies specialists, which the company announced on June 11, 2021.

Farid Madani, General Director of the Business Lines Group of Companies, presented a strategy for digitalizing the organization. A special focus was aimed at participating in an experiment to introduce an electronic bill of lading and waybill, automating targeted delivery and testing cargo transportation using drones.

The organization of effective intra-city delivery is a landmark project for the Business Lines Group of Companies. The LISAD solution allows 95% of orders to be completed with clear deadlines and time windows, simplifies the transfer of applications from one logician to another, and reduces the duration of their training. In addition, it increases the productivity of intra-city delivery while maintaining quality.

"Traffic jams, several addresses on the same route, the need for delivery day to day - in order to meet the needs of customers in the city, you need to automate transportation taking into account all the parameters. The LISAD mathematical model sets the planning features and takes into account factors that are important for each city and customer. Thanks to such an automation system, we managed, in particular, to increase the number of orders under one route by 30%, by 10% - to reduce transport costs and reduce the burden on logicians: only 10-15% of flights require manual adjustment, "said Farid Madani.

"Another function of LISAD is the ability to predict demand based on historical data and take into account external factors. It is this module that allows you to effectively distribute applications for delivery day to day, "said Maxim Andrianov, Commercial Director of BIA Technologies.

2020: Automation of urban road delivery planning

On January 29, 2021, BIA Technologies announced that it had automated the planning of urban road delivery for Business Lines

The TMS system for organizing transport chains within the city was created in order to minimize mileage and the number of vehicles involved, increase the number of orders served on the flight and reduce the labor costs of logicians.

File:Aquote1.png
"We managed to optimize routes by adding about 30% of additional orders to one route, reduce the downtime of cars by 25% and transport costs by 10%. The system allows you to plan about 2 thousand flights daily, and the mathematical model takes into account about 400 parameters that are important when working in cities with different infrastructure, "the Business Lines noted.

All elements of TMS were developed separately - according to representatives of BIA Technologies, there are no analogues on the Russian market. The solution is based on a mathematical model that covers a huge range of parameters unique to each city and client, quickly distributes applications to hundreds of machines, ensuring high planning accuracy and increasing the performance of the logician.

File:Aquote1.png
"After putting into operation, the logist of the million-plus city adjusts no more than 10-15% flights, spending up to 20 minutes of working time daily. In addition to a mathematical modeling system and a unique base for storing parameters, the platform integrates with traffic jam forecasting services and builds routes based on the road situation, "BIA Technologies said.

Within the framework of the project, the experience of logicians has been digitized, tools have been implemented for finding and correcting geocoding errors, setting up geozones with restrictions on the category of transport. The system predicts the demand for transportation services and builds a plan for the next day, taking into account possible adjustments in it, ensuring that 95% hit the time windows.

2019: Reduced vehicle delays with TMS implementation

During the business program of the 24th International Exhibition of Transport and Logistics Services and Technologies TransRussia, which was held from April 15 to 17, 2019, General Director of Business Lines Group Farid Madani and Deputy General Director for Commercial Activities and Marketing of BIA-Technologies Alexey Bugay spoke about the project implemented in the group to develop a transport management system (TMS, Transport Management System).

Farid Madani, General Director of Business Lines Group of Companies

According to the head of Business Lines, an increase in the number of logicians does not lead to an increase in efficiency. The start of digitalization of a large cargo carrier is advisable to start with the involvement of IT expertise. BIA Technologies is a business integrator and key partner in the digitalization project at Business Lines.

According to Farid Madani, the main result of the application of TMS in the group was a reduction in the number of late vehicles to 1%. At the same time, as a result of the introduction of the transport management system, warehouse and operating costs decreased by 15%, transportation costs decreased by 10%, and warehouse capacity was increased by 25%. In general, the optimization of the number of vehicles affected 15% of the fleet, added the general director of Business Lines.

According to him, the further development of the company's work will be associated with the active use of smart contracts and the automation of warehouse capacity. However, the wider use of robotics, for example, in the field of self-driving, is a prospect that awaits the industry no earlier than in 10 years, the expert is sure.

The participants in the discussion agreed that the existing technologies are enough to grow the logistics business through the implementation of IT solutions. Deputy General Director for Commercial Activities and Marketing of BIA-Technologies Aleksei Bugay noted:

File:Aquote1.png
If we draw an analogy, processor power and processor frequency growth restrictions have not yet deterred us. The same goes for the Internet of Things. We have not yet exhausted the technological potential that allows us to implement the requests of "Business Lines."
