On May 19, 2020 Kapital Bank and Group-IB, the international company specializing in prevention cyber attacks announced implementation of a complex for pro-active detection of cyberthreats — Group-IB Threat Detection System (TDS). The hardware and software system Group-IB KapitalBank is going to use for protection of the digital boundaries against difficult threats, including the target attacks using earlier unknown harmful software (Higher Professional Education).
Kapital Bank for May, 2020 renders services to clients in 101 branches and 13 departments through the whole country, having the widest network of service in Azerbaijan. The volume of assets of Kapital Bank imposes quality requirements of service of physical persons and legal entities in the region and also to ensuring cyber security of IT infrastructure of bank. According to the report of Group-IB Hi-Tech Crime Trends devoted to hi-tech crimes for the second half 2018 and the first half of 2019 experts of the company recorded activity of 38 APT-group (engl. Advanced Persistent Threat — "the developed steady threat", target cyber attack), 7 of which – new. Level of complexity of cyber attacks from APT also considerably grew. Russian-speaking APT groups remain the main threat for the financial sector in the world. Among them - "the big three": Cobalt, Silence and MoneyTaker.
Having used Russia as a test polygon, Russian-language financially motivated APT continue geographical expansion, actively attacking the nearby countries. Azerbaijan faces well-known difficult threats to us to which we resist in the Russian market several years. In a case with such groups as Silence or Cobalt, traditional signature means of protecting are powerless. The choice for benefit of Anti-APT of the solution based on deep understanding of the nature of threats demonstrates that KapitalBank aims to work for advancing, minimizing risks at identification of earlier unknown tools and vectors of the attacks, emphasizes Igor Smirnov, the commercial director of Group-IB.
