2019: Replacing Amazon S3 with Mail.ru Cloud Solutions

Every day, about 500 cars arrive at the inspection points of the CarPrice. During the inspection of each car, about 100 photos of good quality are taken. Expensive cars are shot on a video camera.

As a result, a huge array of data is formed - images and videos that customers access - more than 40,000 professional market participants from all over the country. Therefore, the company provides very high requirements for scaling and fault tolerance of object storage.

Previously, Amazon S3 cloud storage was used to store photo and video content. However, due to the fact that the servers are outside the Russian Federation, traffic is quite expensive. Therefore, it was decided to replace the object storage with a solution of a domestic company. After reviewing several services and settled on Mail.ru Cloud Solutions.

At the first stage, traffic was distributed so that the Amazon S3 data warehouse was available in the Russian Federation. In the second phase, it was necessary to transfer almost 10 terabytes of data from Amazon S3 cloud storage to Mail.ru Cloud Solutions storage. And then during the week the archive data was transferred - this is about 30 terabytes.

The company managed to significantly reduce costs - now it pays about 4 times less for the service. Due to the fact that the data warehouse is located in Russia, and not abroad, dealers can quickly download videos and decide whether to trade it or not.
