2020: Implementation of delivery service of the Citrix App Layering applications
On December 2, 2020 the Otkrytiye Bank completed implementation of delivery service of the Citrix App Layering applications which allowed to increase availability more than 200 business applications. The Jet Infosystems system integrator acted as the partner of Otkrytiye bank.
For the last few years more than 10 banks of different scale were a part of the Opening group. For implementation of the key purposes of business development the Otkrytiye bank needed to transform and optimize an IT landscape, to make it scalable. In particular, required upgrade the delivery service of applications and the software consisting by the time of accession of B&N Bank of 7 systems of different versions and even vendors. Some of them ceased to be supported by producers and were not updated that led to operational risks in customer service. The general image of the operating system consisted from more than 200 applications, each of which influenced the others.
As other solution the Otkrytiye bank selected and implemented uniform delivery service of applications Citrix using App Layering technology. The main feature of Citrix App Layering consists in decomposition of applications on layers separate, independent from each other. It allows IT service to create, update and delete applications without their influence at each other and also to carry out these changes imperceptibly for users.
Reliability augmentation and lack of failures in operation of applications became result of implementation. The quantity of necessary human and time resources was reduced by elimination of problem situations.
Experts of Jet Infosystems company became consultants at implementation. Specialists constructed methodology of transfer of applications on layers, advised in difficult situations and also helped to start migration process. Each application was separately transferred to a layer, tested on focus group of 50 users, and only then was implemented. All updates took place "on live" and it was necessary to provide prompt actions without any business impact of bank.
We significantly increased availability of applications. Now the bank can quickly use the latests version of applications, it became simpler to update and connect them users. All this seriously increases employee performance. And the updated architecture allows to service more simply and more effectively the system of delivery of applications, to spend less resources, to be focused on development — the senior vice president, the director of the department of IT infrastructure of Otkrytiye bank Andrey Ivashchenko tells. |
In 9 months it was succeeded to carry out migration of 200 key applications of bank. Loading was distributed between two DPCs, each of which can accept 100% of users in case of failure of one of platforms. For protection against logical errors the concept of POD (logically isolated containers) is used. It allows to carry out planned works (for example, updating of applications) without interruption in service.
The project became for our command and for IT specialists of bank a certain call. Here and absolutely other technologies (App Layering), both huge responsibility, and scale (200+ of applications, 20,000+ of users). Jointly with specialists of bank we could rebuild quickly and without serious consequences a core of client IT and at once receive evident results — Vladimir Belyaevsky, the head of IT infrastructure in the financial sector of Jet Infosystems company comments. |
