At the Compressor Complex enterprise specialists of IRISOFT company implement manufacturing techniques of custom-made parts on the CNC equipment of general purpose. As a software platform the 3D system - Pro/Engineer design is used. The fulfilled methodology can be replicated at new product development and implementation of technologies of processing.
Project Goals and Objectives
When Compressor Complex had a need of production of shaft of the screw pump, the management of the enterprise addressed IRISOFT company which specialists received a task for development of methodology of production of parts on the CNC equipment of general purpose. The new technology was required to be created in very tough specifications – on the available equipment with a limited complete set, without use of the special cutting tool and devices.
Solution
Two years ago the IRISOFT company in Compressor Complex implemented the Pro/Engineer software product (Creo Parametric now).
As the solution of an assigned task specialists scaling of the operating product at the expense of system implementation of technology preparation of Pro/Engineer (Complete Machining Option of the Pro/Engineer Wildfire 4.0 system) was recommended to perform IRISOFT.
Course and project deliverables
The project started at the beginning of 2010 and proceeded with planned breaks till May, 2010. In its framework preparation of managing programs was performed by design department of the customer in the module Complete Machining Option of the Pro/Engineer Wildfire 4.0 system. As a result on the turning and milling processing OKUMA MULTUS B300C CNC machine according to strict technical requirements prototypes of the leader and the screw pump conducted in bulk were made.
According to the representative of IRISOFT company, the main difficulties consisted in providing such operating conditions of the cutting tool which would not cause vibrations. Otherwise, it is not possible to achieve necessary purity of a surface. For example, the inside diameter of the slave screw is 10 mm, and length - 476 mm, and processing of such lengthy parts without application of a lunette or a counterspindle is extremely difficult.
Successfully ended scaling of a system helped to find basic technology approaches for the solution of a task of the customer. Application of Pro/Engineer allowed to receive exact geometry of the difficult integrated surfaces in a 3D model of screw pairs. These electronic 3D models were used for development of technology and preparation of managing programs.
Today more than ten employees work with a software package. On the next stage work on improvement of machining, optimization of allowances and the modes of cutting for the purpose of obtaining steady result and bringing manufacturing techniques to serial requirements is necessary.
