Moscow Mayor's Office buys HPE DSS for 665 million rubles

At the end of March 2024, the Moscow Mayor's Office announced a tender for the purchase of data storage systems from the American company Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). In total, it is planned to purchase 8 pieces of equipment for 665 million rubles.

As he writes CNews with reference to the materials on the public procurement website, the Moscow Department for Competition Policy is looking for a supplier of two DSS HPE NS AF80 All Flash CTO Base Array (the planned purchase price is 131 million rubles) and six HPE NS AF All Flash AFS3 CTO Exp Shelf devices (534 million rubles). Both models are characterized by high data transfer rates and reliable architecture at the All Flash level, which makes them a good solution for enterprises in need of a powerful and reliable storage infrastructure, the publication notes.

Despite the fact that Russia has analogues to HPE data storage systems, the metropolitan government decided to purchase the equipment of the American company. The mayor's office explains its decision by the need to ensure integration with their existing server equipment, which was received as part of a state contract dated December 16, 2021.

Moscow City Hall buys DSS to update the urban intelligent transport system, the components of which are used to effectively manage traffic, increase the capacity of the road network, prevent traffic congestion, reduce traffic delays, transport and improve road safety. In addition, the system is used to inform traffic participants about the emerging road transport situation and the proposal of optimal options for traffic routes, as well as to ensure uninterrupted movement of ground urban passenger transport.

The results of the tender for the purchase of DSS for the Moscow transport system will be announced on April 16, 2024.[1]
